The compensation committee executed Goodells contract. They will get what they deserve. NFL will continue to erode. You can tell Goodell has no clue how to fix this whole protest thing. Seems like a guy that is drunk with power, is really good at speaking and convincing people he knows what he is doing and can coast just fine with the good times but is really not very good at steering a ship in troubled waters.
They just made their bed. I really think before his stint is over, they will regret it.
It seems like the NFL is still a "good old boys" network of owners living in the past. These are leftovers from when football was just a loose knit group of clubs, and the owners could do whatever they wanted and still make money hand-over-fist from rube "fans" who would accept anything the owners tossed them.
They could do anything and get away with it.
The world is changing though. I guess this goes along with what I was saying about the McCaskey family ownership here in Chicago, also. Goodell has pleased the majority of the owners so he's their guy. It will be interesting to see if the NFL can maintain its popularity over the next 10 to 20 years. It is possible for sure. But it's not a dead-bang guarantee. We'll see.
I see a denouement in the popularity of NFL football. If the BCS guys got smart they would expand that to an 8 team playoff series. They're losing out due to selecting just four teams and also due to the gross manipulation in the selection process.
The more the NFL over prices it's live and televised product the less popularity they will eventually enjoy. Fans of perpetual losers will lose interest first and increasing costs will drive some fans away who simply can't afford their seats.
I'm as huge a pro football fan as has ever been born but I've pretty much opted out of paying to watch any of it.

Right on, man. It's like back in the early 80s when ONTV started a subscription TV service. The Blackhawks were a crappy team and they put all the home games on the subscription channel. I stopped watching, and stopped going to the games. We all know how long that team struggled, and what it took to turn it around. What was the first thing Rocky Wirtz did after Dollar Bill passed away? He put ALL the games on TV. Attendance grew overnight and look where the team is now.

yep. I keep telling anyone who will listen. But for some reason when I walk up, they disappear...
