All of this is on Ryan Pace. 3 years of GM work. 9 wins. Tell me how this is any better than Jerry Angelo. Angelo needed to go. No question. But honestly, so far Pace hasn't shown he's even half the GM Jerry was.
Back to Pace, I like his picks for the most part. In hindsight you can question White and all his injuries but coming out of school he was a legitimate draft choice, injuries have kept him from achieving his projections and likely will be gone after this year as he can not stay healthy.
Typical Elway. He said "whatta ya' want me to do QBs don't grow on trees". Maybe that's a bit hard headed and arrogant but then Elway is hard headed and arrogant but also right more then he's wrong.
Glennon is not an upgrade over Cutler but then if we didn't know that we're stupid. Trubisky may be but we won't know that for awhile and not at all 'til he starts playing, making mistakes, and learns from them just as every other QB has had to do. But even with Trubisky at QB the problem is still gonna be that he's playing under John Fox in John Fox offensive scheme and as much as anything that's what need to change.
Here, this is quote from another article on the game.
"The lack of any threat in the passing game has allowed defenses -- especially talented ones like the Buccaneers -- to focus on stopping the run. Week 2's meltdown made this point especially obvious."
The Bears had a good passing game when John Fox arrived so what happened? It's been dismantled to accommodate a HC who still thinks he can win with a great defense, a great running game, and a dink and dunk passer who doesn't turn the ball over. The problem with that is two fold; 1) Every QB has his bad days and turns the ball over, even Rodgers and Brady, and 2) How many games can you win in the NFL these days with a 16-17 point per game offense?
Not many and we saw why today. The Bucs smartly bottled up the run game forcing Glennon to beat them through the air. How often has we seen that before? In the words of Yogi Berra "It was like deja vu all over again". They did it with Cutler too but at least when we had him and some good WRs like BM and AJ we stood a chance of pulling it off. With Glennon we have NO chance and we all saw that today.
So I'm not gonna hold Pace accountable just yet for his player personnel because he's had some winners and some losers all while trying to accommodate the desires of a washed up old school HC we should never have hired to begin with. But, what I will hold him accountable for is not firing said HC and moving on from here as quickly as possible. I'm not picking a date but IMHO it needs to be soon and the sooner the better. He needs to get his next coaching hire right.
