Meh. Like I said, JJ raised a valid point. Not sure how far I want to run the point with Porter specifically, but this callous, it's a business approach bullshit gets tired.
Other NFL teams are like a big family. Right?
I don't know. Not going to project some grandiose blanket statement on teams that I know nothing about. I guess you fall squarely in the "It's a business screw the players" camp. Whatevs dude. This is the third and final time I'll say it. JJ raised a valid point. If you're not willing to think about the point or accept it as a point, just move on.

And thanks for the edit!
Trying to watch the language. I swear a lot IRL. Bad habit. Sets a poor tone, most of the time.

I wasnt trying to get to you or anything, I just feel we live in a cold world. NFL def. feels like one. Personally, I could hardly be any farther than that.
Personally, I hope Porter sticks. He's a solid DB that's been forced to go up against #1 receivers. He can be a steady and solid #2 or #3 DB.
+1 I hope he sticks too. He will. The only thing going against him is that he'll be 31 years old this summer, so he is beginning to get up there a bit.
Just one more time that Pace shows players he could careless about them. No wonder the top tier players weren't will to sign with Pace during FA. Signing one is prove it, two signing is your the odd man out regardless.
I guess my biggest question is why is White still on the team he hasn't proven anything in two year other then he knows how to make money while sitting. The Bears sure need some competition at WR, too bad you don't get that offend with 5th and 6th round picks I guess Pace didn't think WR like DeSean Jackson, Kenny Stills, Kenny Britt, or even Alshon Jeffery were good enough to play for the Bears or may it was just Paces low ball number had them shutting the door on Pace.
I think this raises a good point. The common refrain now-a-days is "It's a business." Yet a business that doesn't consider its employees is typically a poor business. Porter fought through injury all of last year yet managed to remain on the field while his peers were warming the aluminum benches with far less serious concerns.
Still, I think it's a bit premature for Porter to be up in arms regarding his newly acquired teammates. No one's running him out of town, yet. Porter has far better odds of sticking with the Bears than someone like Fuller who - at first chance - will be swapped out to dump the contract and get some draft picks.
I'd like to think Porter will make the roster this year. He's a good DB who was playing with a bunch of novices and rookies without the assistance of a reliable pass rush.
I agree w/most this. But I'm confused on how it deals w/Porter. All offseason people have been talking about brining in Gilmore, and maybe another and/or drafting a CB high. Now all of a sudden the team does it and they aren't respecting Tracy? Feels like a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenerio.
Besides he should make the team as either a starter, backkup or nickle. And if all the nay sayers are correct, Cooper/Prince are scrubs anyways, why is Porter worried?
Ha ha, well he did get some guaranteed $$$ in his last contract but that amount has been satisfied which explains why he'd be a bit nervous about two UFA CBs being signed. But this move doesn't say much for their faith in Fuller or last years 4th round pick Diondre Hall does it? They also added Jonathan Banks late last fall and then extended his deal.
I guess my question about all of this is Pace keeps adding mid to lower tier talent to the secondary. We don't get the pass defense or turnovers we need yet he keeps adding even more of the same type of player. If it hasn't been working what makes him or anyne else believe doing more of the same will? It seems to me he's more interested in simply having enough bodies than the right bodies.
1 Porter is still on the team, he just has to compete for his job. 2 White now has 3 other WR's who he has to complete for a spot with 3 Porter is on his 9th year in the league, White is on his 3rd. Not sure how you can even compare the two since one is still on his rookie deal. 4 Was Jackson/Still or Britt ever linked to the Bears? Alshon wanted out of Chicago asap, and apparently was given TERRIBLE adivice from his agent, and got a TERRIBLE contract. Guy doesn't want to come here you cannot force him to come here. 5 Pace didn't low ball anyone imo, Gilmore sin't the 5th best CB in the league and shouldn't have gotten the contract he got; same w/Bouye. Not sure what Desean or the Kenny's got so I won't comment on them.
I think one of my greatest frustrations with Lovie Smith's teams was the lack of serious competition. I felt like that hurt us as a team back then. I do like having real competition for roster spots. I'm sure it does add to a player's anxiety to have to earn a roster spot or even more importantly a starting position. But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
I understand where you're going with this but exactly how does a bunch of mid and lower tier players competing with one another actually upgrade a position? If I want to be the best at something then I need to compete against the best and compare myself only to them.
We aren't spending on top dollar top tier guys here. They're all lacking something. This is more like throwing pasta against the wall hoping some of it sticks and is ready to consume. I do believe we've been down that road before and the results were not all that good.

Sure, sure, but how many top-tiers can you add in FA per year? 1, maybe 2... Some of them get injured too... Other teams have bunch of cash too... Draft is what you build on. Top FAs come in when you are 5 positions away from the top IMHO
