Not much to go on as a player. He's Nickel CB size but his info says he's a FS?? He's played in 26 games throughout 2014-15 so he has some experience but that's about it. Fringe type player I guess.
There was some news about him so I linked it here to keep that info with his other stuff.
The Bears have been in search of help for a cornerback and wound up landing one Tuesday afternoon that some league observers figured was worthy of a draft pick, which general manager Ryan Pace did not have to sacrifice.
The Bears claimed K’Waun Williams off waivers from the Browns and in the process got an experienced slot cornerback that had fallen out of favor with the new regime in Cleveland.
The Browns suspended Williams before the first preseason game after a disagreement over how injured he was. Williams said his ankle was too sore to play against the Packers and that is when things got sideways between him and the organization. Williams sought a second opinion on his ankle and received a cortisone shot, according to a source. He is suffering from bone spurs, the source said, and could ultimately require surgery. The hope is if he can handle the pain and that surgery will wait until the offseason.
It sounds like the Browns wanted him to play and he thinks he is being pushed to play when he should be in treatment for his bone spurs. I read in the article that Soul linked that he got a 2nd and a 3rd opinion and he has pretty significant bone spurs in his ankle . The question is can he contribute this season without surgery? Or can he undergo a simple scope and be back in 2 or 3 weeks?
The Bears claimed cornerback K’Waun Williams Tuesday, a day after Williams was waived by the Browns.
Williams had been suspended by the Browns for violating team rules in a spat over his health and availability to play. The Bears acquiring Williams is contingent on Williams passing a physical, which BearReport.com reported is set for Wednesday.
The report said Williams got a cortisone shot last week and wants to hold off on surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle until after the season. Williams and his agent disagreed with the Browns about his injury, and an outside medical opinion recommended surgery.
Williams made the Browns as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and has played in 13 games, mostly as a nickel cornerback, in each of his first two seasons.
I'm a little confused.... (I know.... that confuses no one...)
From what I just read, he wants cortisone shots and to hold off on surgery until after the season. An outside source recommends surgery. I am taking that to mean that maybe the Browns did not recommend surgery?
So it almost seems like if he wants cortisone shots, he would rather play now and surgery later. I'm having trouble figuring out who's on first here.
Does he just want to sit out this season and wait until next season for the surgery? I mean, if you are planning on sitting, just have the surgery and start healing..
I am definitely not getting something straight here.

well, his idea was to get his paycheck and sit at home, on his leather couch, watch some NFL football on Gamepass, but not the Browns, nobody really likes the Browns

Sadly it seems that some former Browns players don't even like the Browns. Maybe some current ones too. I don't think the Bears will ever be in that category. They may suck at times, but except under Emery/Trestman, I have never seen the kind of dysfunction the Browns have.

I did a quick cruise through the SBNation site for the Browns. I'd check out the comments on their article on the Bears claiming Williams off waivers. And the comments on this article about him being released are even more interesting.
It is just speculation but it sounds like the Browns are imploding and Williams manipulated this injury situation to get released.
Many of the fans seem to be siding with Williams on this. I haven't followed the Browns that closely but they sure sound like a dumpster fire.
In the end I hope we really put this guy through an exceptionally stringent medical review.

Don't feel alone brother, I share in your confusion. Chucks insight above may tell us more than the damn stories we read. I feel bad for Browns fans, as bad as we have been at least we can take comfort in knowing we are not them. Without knowing more, I will reserve judgment on this young man until we see what he has to offer. Hell, even if his injury prohibits him from participating this year, at least it's another young promising DB that may be in the pipeline in the future. Picking him up for a test drive hurts no one.
