"I think he's closer than he was last week," Fox said." To put a tighter time frame on that, John, he is a week closer than he was last week. Thanks for that insight. What would be more interesting than how much closer we are would be some input on much farther we still have to go. While they may not have a bead on it, almost certainly they have a better bead than they are saying.
I hate to say it but I have a feeling we have another Dick Butkus or Tommie Harris deal here where they'll just get him as healthy as they can for as much of a season as they can for as long as they can but it's looking more and more like his days of dominating a 16 game season are over.
We may see even less from McPhee this year than we did last year. I would be nice if that were not true but I think we have to face a reality that Fox and Pace aren't quite ready to. The mere fact that McPhee is this far behind in his rehab seems to indicate the procedure was a failure.

im not too familiar with the Butkus story, but I def. am with Harris, and you are right this reminds me of it. Hopefully he will make a come back but its not looking good at this point, not at all. Thankfully, Pace and the crew made a nice contract so we can cut ties next season. Still, would hate to lose Violent

Oh wow! Why should I be shocked? This now sounds a lot worse than what they have been leading us to believe. It never ends with these guys with the misdirection on these bad injuries. Young said "career ending injury" on Pernell's injury? Not good at all.
Bullshit, I agree. He didn't have a "simple knee scope". My guess is he had a microfracture (which is done for a more serious knee ailment). This doesn't add up.
If that's truly the case, and it's looks quite likely, here's more info on the process for those who care to learn more about it. With a successful surgery and no complication full rehab with a return to work can take place within 3 months. That would mean McPhee could have been ready to go well before camp began in July but he's not even to this point yet so I guess we're getting some answers the old fashioned way. This isn't looking good so far.

well, that really sounds very probable, he didnt even see the field for months now
Whow, whow, whow, who said anything about micro fracture surgery? We're all getting down on Fox for possibly not giving the full story then all of a sudden a totally different ailment is just thrown out there and it's gobbled up by everyone. Isn't assuming a completely different injury about as bad as not giving the full story. Am I missing something here?
Fellas, it'll be OK, take a deep breath. Even if they put him on the PUP list, it's not the end of the world, it's only 6 weeks. I would rather have him come back with 10 weeks remaining and fully healthy than come back too early and screw it up again.
As far as the quote from Willy Young, you don't know what his frame of reference is. he could have been referring to an injury and surgical technology from back in the 70's or 80's where simple torn carteledge could have easily been career threatening. It's impossible to know what he really meant without knowing how far back he was thinking.
