Found it interesting and upsetting that new OC Thomas Brown is on a short list to be a Head Coach. Might have been list from Athletic.
I am happy for Brown, and they reference him taking over in Carolina last year and doing the same in Chicago. Also kudos for Green Bay game and Caleb getting ball out almost full second faster.
So if he has been on staff why didn't any of the issues with Caleb holding the ball surface in meetings prior to him taking over. Do they not have meetings and review game tape. If he could flip a switch so quick why didn't Waldron. And he's gone so what is upsetting is why didn't Flus get Waldron to adjust this. What was Flus doing and what is Poles doing. Don't the Scouts / GM give feedback also. EPIC FAIL, I suppose you can throw Warren with them if he is on top of Poles and Football ops. Atleast George McC tells you he is just a fan and doesn't claim to get the details.
Just another reason Flush should already be gone
Everyone has their role on the staff. Brown can give suggestions...but at the end of the day its up to the OC to take them or not. It was Shane's job to create the game plans and call the plays...nothing Brown really could have done about that on game day and what he could do about it during the days leading up is also somewhat limited.
Flus seems loyal to a fault. Poles hasn't shown that when it comes to players...we'll see when it comes to the HC. It's the HC's staff though, so at the end of the day, the GM can give feedback, but he's generally not going to override his HC. It's like in NY, where the Jet's owner mentioned benching Rodgers to the coaching staff...but at the end of the day its up to the coaches. Also in NY you saw how adamant the owner of the Giants was in wanting to resign Saquan...that didn't sway the HC or GM much in their decision. It's the GM's job to give the HC what they feel they need to succeed in both players and coaches. Now, could Poles have finally said to Flus "Listen, I've been suggesting getting rid of Shane or handing over play calling duties to Brown, if you don't do that now, I'm firing you too". Maybe...I'm not sure how likely that is because thats the same as being fired anyway in my mind. With Flus firing Shane, he essentially just fired himself because Shane was HIS pick. Just like Getsy was HIS pick.
As for Brown, he's been an HC candidate for a couple years now. He's an up and coming coach and based on what I've read about him, I get why. Depending on how the rest of the year goes, I wouldn't be upset with Brown getting the HC job...I'd like to know more about the staff he'd bring though.
