I watched some breakdown on YT football scout. Just SO raw to put him in vs Borom or something else is crazy. It's like they want him to be good so they don't have to draft a LT.
This guy is at least a full season and training camp.
If you look at his career at Yale, he started in 24 games. Almost all were in his first two seasons. He had a serious quad injury in October 2023, requiring serious surgery. He has just recovered from it and basically had no physical work at any of the off-season or preseason activities.
Coming out of the Ivy League, he basically played against weak competition. While he probably possesses the physical skills needed to play a starting role in the NFL, I think most analysts thought he needed a full offseason training and conditioning as well as a full offseason set of camps and other activities. Which he did not get.
I agree with all who have posted upstream that it was at best silly for the Bear coaching staff to play him. I personally have no idea how his career will work out, but I am sure that he needs to go through a full offseason of training and practicing before you can even begin to see what kind of potential he brings to the team.
I also feel bad for the kid as he is probably doing his absolute best and needs to be inactive for much of the 2024 season.
If Poles sees KA as his future LT, they maybe will just throw him to the wolves to gain experience like they did to Brax his rookie season.
There really isn't a good option here because Borom is not very good at all. But he is probably a lot better than Amegadjie at this point who just doesn't look like he's even close to being a starting NFL lineman.
Okay, but didn’t Eberflus already know this, but played him anyway?
Two possibilities:
1. They have zero confidence in Borom.
2. They are think futuristically, and want to give KA some experience and give Poles some data to make decision on whether to get another LT to replace KA if he looks like a bust.

I believe #2. Or maybe I just hope that.
#2, okay, but why put him in his first action in a close game?

Dude, he's been the swing tackle for 2 years and has played both tackle positions. No way in hell KA should have been first man up.
Borom >> Kiran by a mile at this point as a backup. We are talking about a small school rookie who missed the entire offseason here. No way he should be out there when you have a better alternative.

I was thinking that too. But the heck of it is, if you watch that video posted by brasilbear with every snap played by Amegadjie in the game, he really doesn't look any worse than Borom has. Borom is a bad player. Not saying Amegadjie is good at this point. He's obviously not. I will say this. He looks pretty athletic and moves well - in that aspect he is already better than Borom who moves like he has concrete on his feet. This is what you get when the offensive line is not at the level it should be with starters - and worse with depth.

Kiran literally blocked air on every pass play for 2 full series.
No one is saying Borom is good but he's way better than that.

I mean, I get it/ If one guy had played a while and the new guy comes ind plays at the same (low) level, you have to give it to the new guy. At least you hope for some upside. The chances of him coming in raw and playing at his ceiling are low. He should get better.
