What worries me is the fact that the offensive line is now decimated. We don't have a LT left on the roster now that Braxton Jones, Larry Borom and Amagadjie are out. It looks like we will see Matt Pryor trying to play LT. Pryor is a decent backupguard. The guy is a horrible backup tackle - he is so slow even at guard. No fast twitch, no speed, slowest feet. And that's as a guard. Left tackle? Holy moley. When Pryor has played RT he was flat-bad. Real bad. It sounds like the rest of the guys who will play are dinged up with nagging injuries too... but they will play as best they can on Sunday. And how about having Nate Davis back at RG?
Not good. Not good at all for Sunday. Here is our current depth chart: LINK.
Doesn't look like the bye week helped a whole lot
It sure looks like the injuries are hitting a lot of teams at this point of the season. And I'll bet a lot of the players who are playing have injuries that they are playing through. The quality of depth on a team is pretty important now, especially with a 17 game season. The Bears are still struggling to get their starting OL fixed to where it is decent. The depth is not the best. I figure the bye week isn't going to make crappy players good... LOL, but I'm sure they are well-rested crappy players - that's a comforting thought, right?
RT Jake Curhan elevated from the practice squad. I have no clue as to where players will actually play on the 5 offensive line positions. Would they flip Wright to LT? Borom goes LT?
I was hoping to see him back at least. The OL is a real issue this season in so many ways
It sure seems like offensive linemen in the NFL get injured at a very high rate now. I did a quick Google search just now and got this. These DL and OL are not the fat boys of the past. These are now incredible athletes. Basically you have 310 to 330 pound guys beating on each other every play. It almost looks like a form of martial arts now. And with 300+ pound bodies flying everywhere, some guys just get rolled on, tearing ligaments or busting bones.
Offensive linemen in the NFL have high rates of injuries, including concussions, ligament sprains and tears, and fractures:
Concussions Offensive linemen have high rates of concussions, with one study finding that they had the highest concussion rate per 1,000 athletic exposures (AEs).
Ligament sprains and tears Ligament sprains and tears, especially in the ankle or knee, are common injuries in the NFL. Offensive linemen have more than double the number of MCL injuries than the next position group.
Fractures Fractures are common in the NFL, including fractures around the eyes, in the shoulder, wrist, and fingers, and stress fractures in the shin bone.
Exertional/medical events In 2021, 46.2% of exertional/medical events occurred among offensive and defensive lineman or tackle positions.
I'm usually excessively optimistic until reality hits for a while. I saw a chink in the defensive armor last weekend, with poor contain and tackling on the edge with a highly mobile QB. Uh-oh. With a couple key guys dinged the Bear D looked a little too bendy even if they didn't really break until the last play. The Cards have serious weapons and a QB similar and more savvy than the Commanders. I don't like the matchup.
I don't think the Bear offense could play worse than they did last week, and will rebound against a lesser D (IMO). i do trust in Caleb. I think the Bears will keep up with the Card in a higher scoring game. But my spidey sense tells me it is another losss.
I don't think the last 8 games are an automatic loss for the Bears. Talented teams in new systems tend to get better during the year - so if the Bears can stay healthy I think they can play .500 ball down the stretch & surprise every one of the teams in the North (especially at home).

The Oline looked bad yesterday, but man - they weren't even prepared to give Borom a little help in his first action back? It isn't like they were using Kmet in the passing game.
I've really soured on the OC, and also Flus who again didn't have his team prepared OR remotely disciplined. What does HITS mean again?

I agree. There are a lot of problems, and not just the offensive line. I try to figure out the logic behind some of these moves, even if I don't agree with them - but I come up empty. There is no logic that I can see. Eberflus in his recent two press conferences looks defeated, broken. He is in over his head, know it - and knows he's a goner.

It's Flus' version of pig latin. He moved the "S" to the end, but in his smarter than thou stupidity, he thinks omitting the "ay" at the end will confuse opponents.
