He also snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory several times. ok... I'm doing a reset. I don't agree with it. I don't like it, but he is our coach next year. I wish him success
We all will, we just know it isn't going to work out the way they hope.
(Well, most of us. There are a few here that are only happy when the Bears lose.)
And I am personally VERY curious to watch their entire plan unfold now. I am not saying it will work out, but it could work out well in the end. Obviously there are a lot of "ifs" in that. Half of me thinks we are so very long overdue for some good luck that maybe this time we will get it. I sure hope so.
+1 That's my take on it all, "we move on" and we hope that these decisions will work out this time. And they very well could. I think one key move to watch now is the coordinator hiring. Eberflus was not hired to be a coordinator but to be a good head coach. He was brand new to the job and has made his share of mistakes. But hopefully he is one who learns from mistakes and becomes better. I am so hoping he brings in great hires at both coordinator positions. If that does happen then holy cow we could be looking at this working out just fine.
That's how I see it. Even with my crystal balls, I can't say I know how it will work out. I have lots of reasons to think it is the wrong decision. There is another thread with MPbears were we go over some of it. But it's done. And hopefully they are right and I am wrong.
Point is, it's a decision that is more likely to NOT work out well than the opposite.
We won't know for a while what their decision is at QB but I suspect Fields is toast now. Bringing him back with a 3rd OC for a 4th year makes zero sense and the only incentive you have to offer a new OC candidate is that he will get Caleb to work with. [BTW, they're gonna heap praise on Fields in public to maximize his trade value. They can't say anything else so don't be fooled.]
So, if we draft Caleb or any other new QB and he goes on to blow up and fail yet again, remember this moment. The seeds of another QB-development failure were planted today. If the team struggles again in 2024, Flus will be on the hot seat and we will be repeating the same QB-Coaching follies we have had with Trubisky and Fields.
So remember today when everyone is bitching later about why Caleb/Drake/Whoever doesn't appear to be taking off like Love and Stroud did.
We all will, we just know it isn't going to work out the way they hope.

I still blame Cub fans.
Devil: So you want the Cubs to win one WS huh? Fan: Yes. I'll give anything. Devil: Anything? Fan: yes! Anything! Devil: Bears won't get a franchise QB during your lifetime and GB gets 3 in a row. Fan: Deal! Devil: Sign here please.
