If they move on from Eberflus I would hope they would try to get an offense guy. Vrabel is a defensive coach. His offense was worse than the Bears this year (in scoring and YPG, both). And his 2022 team was even worse. I would be real disappointed if Vrabel was the best they could find.
You are right and I stand corrected. I thought Vrabel was a TE and from an offensive tree but I must have been thinking of someone else.
Harbaugh or bust
I do think he'd be the best guy we could bring in here. I have my doubts the Bears will get him here, but the thought of Harbaugh coming here checks a lot of boxes, if not all of them. And think of the coordinators and position coaches he could bring here too. Far more than some rookie HC first timer guy. Harbaugh would attract the best... I had not thought of that until now. The quality of the coaching staff can make or break the team. And the players like Eberflus. Bringing in a young rookie guy would not be easy at first as far as winning over the guys... but Harbaugh has credibility day-1 with them. Harbaugh won't come here cheap, and he would want a lot of control... but at least we'd have a guy who can coach. The franchise probably NEEDS a guy to turn this franchise around.

Once you start talking about giving up control to a new guy coming through the door, it starts to cause territorialism. Which is probably there to begin with. Egos get in the way of what's best for the organization. I don't see it happening.

I have thought about this a lot in recent weeks. The franchise is in desperate need of someone who can actually coach at a high-level. Someone who absolutely will not accept mediocrity and will not tolerate ignorance or ignorant people. The best coaches of all time have been like this. Some have more polish than others as far as interpersonal skills, but they all were zealots about winning. Think about the greatest coaches and then think about OUR coaches here on the Bears. Our guys have been failures but "nice" guys who played well - they boasted about "collaboration" and gave the McCaskeys a comfort level so they could "dabble" in the football operations (players and coaches). But the McCaskeys have failed this sports franchise going back to the days of George Halas' tenure here... he knew football. These others don't. They depended upon an accountant... a nice fella who "collaborated" well (old Ted Phillips the bean counter).
Were did this get the football team though?
The franchise needs someone who is not an idiot, and who won't tolerate losing - and won't tolerate losers getting in his way as he fixes this team. Jim Harbaugh checks that box. Will he want complete control? Probably. Will he piss people off? Yes. Including the McCaskeys. But someone who knows his ass from a hole in the ground needs to be in control here. Not the "nice guys" and "collaborators" who give the McCaskey's warm fuzzy feelings - but who are incapable of building a winning team.
If they do choose to move on from Fields (as I think they must), we are about to repeat the same mistakes as before. Watch them can Flus a year from now after another disappointing season missing the playoffs. I can see it now.
JABF, you here? Cuz you have been asking why Bears org ruins QB, here's why.
We are about to wreck another one by not optimizing the timelines and infrastructure he comes into.

In all fairness I don't know if Mr. Halas had much of a clue either. I know sacrilege but he was running the team right up until the early 80's when he died.
So all those bad teams in the 70's were his doing or at least he had a say.
All I am saying is we give the Family shite for being facked up but shite always runs downhill.
p.s. Please don't boot me from these boards. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
