The Packers game was a hard one to swallow. There are fans half my age that are sick of the losing seasons. That's bad for the organization, but it gets worse:
"Starting out second-and-10 isn't great either. They're just drive killers. It kind of limits the stuff Luke (Getsy) can call. Strategically, then you're trying to get breathing room for the punt." Cole Kmet
2&10 and the team is thinking about the punt! We can't win with that.
It's not all on Getsy, sadly. I watched the preseason hoping to see one thing from Fields-the ability to make second and third reads. I still haven't seen that from him. Until he can make them, we will get more of the same.
The coaching and play calling is abysmal. Line coaching is lackluster on both sides of the ball, Getsy's play calling is just as predictable as Nagy's, and the head coach has players thinking about the punt on 2&10. Making the playoffs is probably wishful thinking.
It would be nice if the whole team played like our secondary. They're coached well. Hat's off to the DB coaches. It's tough to evaluate running backs coaching, because they rarely have a hole to run through.
As a note, I hated writing this post. It's the same story though. Our best season seems to be the offseason and that needs to change.

Welcome! Was born in 83, in Europe, and been a Bears fan for about 25y, so u are exactly right - all I know, pretty much, is losing. Sadly, your post is very accurate, my thoughts exactly
And all fans were asking for was at least to see a tiny bit of improvement. Something. Just throw us a bone here. Anything. But the team was not ready to play. The team quit too (that was really really hard to watch). So much for the vaunted H.I.T.S. thing Eberflus brought here. Green Bay showcased hustle and definitely out-physical'd our players. They were smiling and laughing and just celebrating how the new guy - Jordan Love - now "ownes" us too. Pitiful stuff.
Is Fields the quarterback of the future here? I don't think so. Obviously the penalties killed many drives, but when your passer's average completion is 5.something yards, that's not enough.

To be completely honest, I don't think there is a "quarterback of the future here" due to the fact the Bears don't know how to support a QB with an NFL-quality offensive line and competent coaching and play calling. It's like expecting circus monkeys to build a spaceship to the moon. LOL, it's probably insulting circus monkeys to compare them with these incompetents at Halas Hall.
We have had over 40 different starting QBs who have failed here. But the systemic failure is the failure to understand how to build an offense and nurture a QB. No future QB is going to survive here until the franchise can get smarter than circus monkeys in regards to building an offense.

Fields is a very good QB. Chicago is where QBs go to die. Or more likely get misused abused mauled and killed.

I wish I could say that. I see no evidence to support it.
Before the game I would have leaned to the side that he's gonna be the guy. Now I'm definitely leaning the opposite. There's still time but it's more likely than not at this point that we should be moving on this coming offseason.
And I'm not putting all the blame on JF by any means. See my post in the deflated ball thread and I don't want to re-type it all.

I meant to say WAS a very good QB. Just like the last 40 or so QBs we've gone through, we are in the process of - or have already - ruined him.

The symptoms of the failure here are the QBs. The disease itself is the franchise failing to build an offense that a QB can support a QB so that he thrives here. I don't want to see a QB drafted just so the McCaskeys & the front office can throw a bone to the fanbase and shut them up - and save some jobs for a few more years. That is ALL it would be. Because until you have the people and players in place who understand how to build a solid offense - then it's just one more QB (failed QB) on the heap of 40+ failed quarterbacks here. For once I'd like them to treat the disease and actually build a credible offense... LOL, the NFL should ban Chicago from drafting the QB position until they have an NFL-quality OL, coaching staff etc. I noticed that JT O'Sullivan was stunned by the play calling BEFORE yesterday's game. He said it made no sense.
It doesn't make sense. How can we be in the 3rd year of Justin Fields and still have a crap O like we have - coaches and players? This team is no better than what we had in Fields' first season under Nagy... and the playcalling is no better than Nagy. I'm sorry, I don't get the incompetence. This is horrific football.
