Even with injuries Fangio has made our defense #7. We can't afford to lose a guy like that. What has Fox and Loggains done? I understand we can't keep getting new coaches every two years but we also can't let the good ones leave. It was a huge mistake with Gase and set back our offense. We can't afford to do it to our defense.
What usually happens in companies is that the guy running it gets the benefit of the doubt and the guys under him fall on the sword. If things don't improve with their replacements, then the guys above them can better tell that it is the manager at fault. Up until then, the guy can make excuses and it is a grey area for the guy above him to make the call. They usually keep the manager for another year to give him the rope he needs.
Now Pace may be a better manager than most and will shortcut the normal process and say that he's seen enough and he knows who the guys are. The other option, and it's a real option here, is that Pace identifies the issues, says that he knows who has to go but the money guy (who is his boss) says we can't eat that much contract. Keep him another year to be sure and let the lower paid guys go.
That is the problem with reporting to a finance guy. The right football decision does not always get made.
So if Fox was coaching the Pats , or the Raiders or the Cowboys or the Chiefs , those teams would have losing records ? Is that the premise we're supposed to accept ? Hogwash . The Bears were a talent deficient team even w/o the injuries , so the losing isn't all just about him .
I don't believe much about what I read from a bunch of waterboys / sports reporters who get mean spirited when they're dealing with a coach they don't like - same goes for fans who develop the same irrational dislike because they DO believe what these writers say .
It's a talent deficient team that nobody , not even Bellicheat , could currently win with .
This has nothing to do with me only believing what Rosenrant says. Did you forget that I listened to similar excuses out of him when he coached here in Denver for four years. Excuses why he couldn't win in the playoffs no matter how much talent Elway kept buying for him. He even left town with the excuse on his lips that winning the AFCW should have been good enough when for the third year in four he lost his first playoff game!
With virtually the same Bronco team who won the 2016 Super Bowl Fox 1) got is ass handed to him in 2014, and 2) was one and done in the 2015 playoffs. So I don't care how much talent you give him if he couldn't win with those defenses and Manning as his QB what makes you think he'll win here? Jeezus Blue look at the facts will ya'? All your doing is parroting the talent deficiency his defenders are so where does that make you any different than those you accuse of parroting his detractors and I don't think we're anywhere near that talent deficient. Just poorly coached.
Where is this next man up mantra of his then? When key players go down or fail sometimes you have to create your own talent. Fangio has done a bang up job of that on defense but elsewhere? Where are the guys on offense stepping up? Do you like having a HC who pats a guy on the head who loses games and drops sure scores two weeks in a row saying he has a lot of "heart" when what he needs is better "hands". Can you imagine Halas or Lombardi saying that? Or even Belicheat or Parcells? LMFAO
Injuries? (convicted by his own words)
"Fox regularly says you can’t blame injuries because every team has injuries. Fox also says the NFL is a production-based business. That, then, invites hanging on Fox the 3-9 record that the Bears have produced. That Fox’s Bears have produced."

When Cutler went down earlier in the year and Hoyer became his shining star that was his excuse for not assuring Cutler of his starters job wasn't it? So if you agreed with that theory then why should it not apply to the man who established it now?
It's all a bunch of crap and excuses and anyone who buys it is simply buying one more year of them when next year Fox still hasn't turned this team around like promised. This year WAS his second chance and it was worse than last year. Worse than they guy he replaced and in two consecutive years worse than all but one other HC in Bears history.
So who wants to be crazy enough to give him one more year to prove what we already know. We keep sending all the wrong guys packing around here. Fox is the one who needs to go.

enough with the excuses. Losers make excuses, winners overcome.
Fangio is a good Coach and his D is the 7th ranked. How is that possible without any Talent and a bad Team? Loggains is bad and his 4th QB Looks better than the other who have started. The only guy that puts up Points is Howard, a Pace pick, on some shorter runs or because he gets all those 1st downs.
Fox is bad and our Team isn't improving WHILE we add Talent.
I don't know how this will all turn out with Pace and Fox. I do know that there is no quick fix to a team as broken as ours was. I "get it" that people want "instant gratification" in life. Rarely if ever does that happen though. Sometimes I think patience is the #1 virtue in life.
Bears fans, to their credit, have been very patient. They have run out of patience now. I get that. But all of the anger and impatience with this latest regime of Pace and Fox will not speed things up.
People are ranting about the McCaskey's selling the team. That's not going to happen. Get a grip.
I think we all are putting every move under a fan microscope and questioning anything and everything Pace and Fox does - and suspecting the worst. We believe in some things that are pretty much conspiracy theory fringe thoughts. No proof. Just hearsay or we've read something in a Rosenbloom article... so it must be true, right?
One other thought. I hear people bringing up stuff from past Bears regimes, draft failures of the past & John Fox's past. I really don't care about the past. I try not to live in the past either. That is defeatist thinking. At some point you have to believe things can get better (like with the Cubs fan experience).
We all want to stamp our foot, have a hissy fit - and demand our Oompa Loompa - now!

My only comment here is that I have found that past trends are usually the best indicator of the future and their relevance should not be discounted. That does not mean a person can't change, but the past is still the best indicator of future trends. The odds are with past tendencies continuing forward.
You have been in law enforcement, I believe JABF. Look at something you can relate to. How many repeat offenders (people with a documented history - not a one time thing) will continue to be offenders in the future vs how many will change their ways. I think the numbers will show the first group to far outnumber the second. We are just looking at human nature here. What Fox has done in the past is probably what Fox will do in the future. It IS relevant. You don;t have to live in the past, but if you are looking for clues in the future, the past is the best place to look.

That is true. But it is not an absolute. If we are afraid we cannot ever overcome our past then why follow the Bears at all? You know, I'm a hopeful person in life. LOL, and I get it that I'm probably a dreamer. I see the best in people, or at least try to. I see the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. I enjoy life. I really do. I deeply admire the Cubs fans who weathered all the bad years and never gave up hope - hope that some day they would see their team win a World Series.
I'm a die-hard Bears fan of over 50 years now. And I know the past failures of this team intimately. I've lived it as a fan. But I am still very hopeful for our future. Heck, I am still excited about THIS team as I watch these new/young players being developed. I like to think I can see "glimpses" of our future championship team being built now - player by player. It excites me and I am hopeful.
LOL, but I am also an extra-patient person. It's how I am wired. I am just going to sit back and enjoy the Bears as best I can, and I am not going to have a stroke or heart attack worrying about stuff that "might happen" or start buying into "conspiracy theories" or panic over stuff I don't control in life. It's a game.

JABF and @bearsinhouston are making good points. Pace and Fox are different issues IMO. Fox can be viewed through what he did in the past, keeping in mind the difference in personnal from Panthers/Broncos and the Bears. How did his teams respond? What happened after he left? What issues became clear after the fact? From these points we can make relative guesses about what will happen here.
But Pace is being blamed for the sins of the past. Pace has no responsibility for what JA and Emery did. He has no responsibility for the hiring/firing of Lovie and Trestman. Pace is harder to judge in this respect because he has no track record. We can look at what happened in NO and make some guesses. Might Pace be inclined to find a vet QB in FA a la Brees? Could be.
My issues with the team are with Fox and not with Pace. I do think Pace was too fast to dump OFF playmakers and that makes me a little nervous with respect to Jeffery. However, other than not adding a QB in the draft, I'm not sure what else Pace can do. I hope to see a QB added this draft and I expect Pace to continue to add to the DEF with top draft picks. I would be surprised if 2 of the first 3 picks are not defenders (pass rusher and secondary.) Could we see a trade with NE? I hope not. NE is going to want at least a first and a second for Jimmy G if not 2 firsts.
This team is trending up on DEF and if they can continue to improve on OFF, next season should be better.
Remember--its not the pick that is important, its the player picked that matters.

I thought that is what I tried to express!
You did. I'm just trying to express how I feel too. It's hard for all of us fans to persevere through a tough season and remain hopeful for something better. It is good that we can all come here and vent a bit about what is wrong. I have no problem with that. Selfishly, I don't want to come here to wallow in negativity every day though.

Post of the month!
I wish you would quit your job and start working for Ryan Pace as a consultant and advisor.
