I really hope this guy isn't gonna become a huge FA bust. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting concerned.
Even if he does play on Sunday you gotta wonder if his head is right... and if he's missed all of preseason his body might not be in game shape either. If you're too messed up to practice then how can you be ready with a new team and all new teammates and in a new scheme, opening up with your first ever game with the new team? It just sounds like a train wreck in the making if they play him against the Packers on Sunday.

+1 And what's kind of weird is the fact that he WAS at Thursday's practice but just "watched" the Bears practice from the sideline... because of "personal reasons." He did practice today though. Eberflus says he will play on Sunday. Eventually something will leak out about this as far as what is really happening here. It's just seems so weird to me:
LAKE FOREST -- Bears starting right guard Nate Davis sat out practice Thursday due to a personal reason. Davis was seen at practice but was not participating. Davis missed much of training camp for an undisclosed reason. Just days ahead of the season opener Sunday against the Packers, Davis was back on the sidelines watching.
I have no idea what his deal is and hope we find out what is really going on (or at least some approximation of what is going on). But I'm going to guess that it is something very personal and until Davis is comfortable to talk about it, the Bears will be a stone wall on the topic.
This preseason has lacked a lot of chatter about the HITS principle…. If Davis hasn’t bought in (I’m thinking he hasn’t) I believe they’re accommodating him and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him traded later in the season or off-season.
