Let’s see if Wright can handle Hutch any better. That was my comparison.
The good news is that by the time he faces the Lions it will be late in the season and he'll have had a lot of game reps by then. I figure any rookie will have his ups and downs that first season. I'm expecting Wright to be somewhat like Brax was last season. Some good with some bad plays mixed in... but hopefully like Brax he will get better and better as the season goes on. I know that some fans will say he's a 1st round pick so he "has" to be good right away. It doesn't work that way. But fans will over-react. It's just what fans do.

Technical issues can be fixed by coaches. Strength issues (Brax) can be fixed in the weight room. Slow feet (Jenkins) is fixed by moving the guy to guard. Considering what Poles paid for this guy, he shouldn’t have any of these problems in a major way even as a rookie.

I figure that rookie OL are going to make their share of mistakes no matter where they were drafted. It doesn't mean they won't learn and improve. But there is a learning curve here for tackles in particular. What I expect we'll see is a mix of some really good play with some plays where he makes mistakes and gets beat. As you say, these kind of issues can be fixed but it's a process that spans that first season (at the very least). And by the way, Brax admitted that his issues last year were technique too. It wasn't just a strength thing. He says he worked very hard to improve his technique for this season.

The "price paid" for Wright was perfectly fair value. Many, many analysts had Wright as a top-tier tackle in this draft and those guys go top-20 without fail. Several believed him to be the #1 very best. He stoned Will Anderson last year who was the consensus best edge rusher.
Wright will be fine. Not perfect as a rookie of course, but fine. He's gonna be really good in due time.

The price was the opportunity cost of not taking Carter or JSN. In my humble opinion, that will in due time indeed prove to be a very high price. However, that is a well-flogged dead horse between us that I don’t want to debate. anymore.

I KNEW IT! I was gonna ask if you throwing shade on Wright was cuz you were still pining away for those two but deleted it instead. Bingo
Yeah, we couldn't risk Carter and his off-field issues. And we needed an OT badly to protect and evaluate Fields this year. And JSN would be no better than a WR4 on this roster right now.
And so on and so on...
None of us know how it will look 5 years from now but it was the right move at the time.

Let it go.
Damn why don't you go back each draft year the past 20 or so and have a good cry on who we should have grabbed and who were busts. I think you need a good cry to start fresh, get it out of your system. Because who is good for one team, is bad for another. Perhaps you can give yourself a new routine. Whenever you start to dream of a player force yourself to sing Que sera, sera in your head. Because whatever will be, will be.
And when I meant boy crush, I meant that. That grade school obsession of someone that you just can't get out of your mind.
I was just reading the ptisme comment in the Shoutbox about the Packers starting WRs (due to injuries) will be a group with only 10 catches in their careers... that's between them all. That coupled with Aaron Rodgers not there is going to make the Packers offense pretty one-dimensional for our defense. I'm thinking (now) that the Bears defense should be good. If our OL can at least be "okay" then this should be a good game for us and a win.
But that being said, how often do we struggle with Green Bay anyway? There are very few easy games against them - going back many years.
Wow, how things have changed huh?
Most Bears-Packers games the last 10+ yrs were Bears with a mediocre-at-best QB and a WR room made up of rejects, rookies, and JAGs. Now it's Green Bay's turn to experience that.
Looks like Watson isn't gonna play so that leaves Doubs, a 2nd yr player, and a bunch of rooks and UDFAs at WR and TE.
That's accurate for this game... But I think moving forward (if watson can stop hurting his legs) GB's pass catchers have an extremely high ceiling.
