Lorin Cox says same thing. Bears are stronger in the so-called “skill” positions than in the trenches. I worry about the entire DL and the middle of the OL.
+1 With Jenkins out and Whitehair back to guard with Patrick at center, our run blocking is probably not going to be as good. On top of that Nate Davis (I guess he really DOES exist) will be at RG after missing summer camp and almost all of the preseason. And on top of that we have a greener than a gourd rookie starting his very 1st NFL game - ever - at RT. There is not enough Kool Aid for me to feel comfy with that in the Green Bay Packers opener.
I hope it all works out okay. But I would be shocked if the OL is clicking and getting it done in this first game. It could be a Chinese fire drill to watch. If it is a total fail at pass protection too - well, it's gonna be a butt ugly day for the offense. Fields will be roadkill and the ball will be turned over early and often... I picture him getting hurried and throwing picks.
I hope I am wrong. But if the OL is bad, well, the game is bad.
I am curious to see what Davis can do after voluntarily missing nearly the whole preseason. Maybe he figures he’s so good that he doesn’t need to practice with the rest of the team. Last year, Flus was tougher on Jenkins than he’s been with Davis. There is something going on behind the scenes that we’re not being told.

I've wondered if it could possibly be personal problems the guy is going through. Wild guess but something is going on.
Are the Bears to the first team ever to start a rookie at RT? I believe teams start rookies all the time on the OL. Imagine the angst if Borom was starting at RT while Wright was the backup. We'd be outside Halas Hall storming the walls.

Wright is the least of my concerns on the OL.
It's good - he needs to start his NFL journey immediately like this (he is a top-10 draft pick). But it comes along with a steep learning curve too. Certainly Brax struggled at times last season - especially early on - as he transitioned from college ball to being a tackle at the NFL level. I wouldn't say that I am "concerned" about Wright, so much as I'm a realist knowing that he will have his share of whiff's and just simply get beat at times - and Justin Fields will face that. It's all part of the transition for Wright. If that was the only thing the OL had to deal with this opening game, it would be a factor to some extent (certainly for Fields)... but the entire OL does have some things to overcome in this first game.
I expect a lot from defense in this game. Actually, it refers to the complete season. Edmunds, TJ and Ngakoue should make up weaknesses from last season. Also I would like Brisker to have a good season. Whats your opinion about the defense this year? Do you think that potential better score this season will more depend on defense than offense?
Whatever, at the end I'm just interested in success of the whole team. After all, that's most important thing in one community.

I was just reading the ptisme comment in the Shoutbox about the Packers starting WRs (due to injuries) will be a group with only 10 catches in their careers... that's between them all. That coupled with Aaron Rodgers not there is going to make the Packers offense pretty one-dimensional for our defense. I'm thinking (now) that the Bears defense should be good. If our OL can at least be "okay" then this should be a good game for us and a win.
But that being said, how often do we struggle with Green Bay anyway? There are very few easy games against them - going back many years.

Wow, how things have changed huh?
Most Bears-Packers games the last 10+ yrs were Bears with a mediocre-at-best QB and a WR room made up of rejects, rookies, and JAGs. Now it's Green Bay's turn to experience that.
Looks like Watson isn't gonna play so that leaves Doubs, a 2nd yr player, and a bunch of rooks and UDFAs at WR and TE.
