I have a theory (not completely mine) that the best QB usually wins any given game on any given Sunday. Here are my lists of QBS who are better, equal and worse than Fields. QBs I/we/NFL don't know much about will get ranked as equal to Fields.
BETTER
Equal
Worse
Mahomes
Love (x2) (GB)
Mayfield (TB)
Cousins* (MN)(x2)
Wilson** (DEN)
ARI QB (ARI)
Herbert*** (LA)
Howell (WFT)
JimmyG (VEG)
Carr (NO)
Young (CAR)
Goff (DET) (x2)
Watson (CLE)****
Ridder (ATL)
Simple prediction: lose to the better QBs, beat the worse QBS, and split with the equal QBs.
8-9 record this season.
Now for a few comments:
* Cousins is capable of turning into Cutler at a moments notice, Bears could split this series. ** Wilson is ranked as equal based on last year, but with Payton he could (should?) see a bounce back *** Herbert gives me Marino vibes, great QB, team never gets it together. Just a random thought. **** Watson is better if....he can get back to form. Time will tell.
Also statically speaking Young, Howell and Ridder will not turn out. We'll see as the season progresses.
Interesting theory and I think it's very possible to have that score at the end of regular season. Looking and thinking about schedule, I think thatćs it. My prediction is 9-8. Of course as a fan, I will always hope for better result than that. Definitely think we will be in the running for PO. BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!!!
That is fascinating. It will be cool to revisit this at the end of the season. Somehow though, the quality or lack of quality - of the supporting team assets/performance - impacts the "better - equal - worse" rating of those QBs this year. Not just Fields but most of them need that support. Russell Wilson is one (LOL, he's my backup QB on my FF team this year... so I'm curious as to what version of Wilson we see this year... could be good or could be epic bad). Fields definitely needs better support this season or he could be in that "worse" category of guys.

Absolutely..in fact a good team can "carry" a bad QB (think Grossman and Dilfer) while a good QB will sometimes struggle to carry a bad team.
The team around Fields will come into play, as will random events (driving rain against the 49ers, the ref deciding that Bears weren't going to beat the Steelers) and straight up good/bad luck (injuries and funny ball bounces.) Over the course of a season or seasons these things "even out." Bears are due for a game with the REFs on our side.
