Thankfully, the regular season begins in 10 days and we can see what we have - or don't have to look forward to this year. There's not much more to talk about right now. I think most of us have commented that we expect a season somewhere in that 7-9 win range. All I know is that I will be mighty happy to see some Bears football again - real games and not just the preseason stuff.
Looking over that final roster (final for now anyway), it looks like an upgrade over last year's. We should see some better games this year. LOL, and then all of us can do the "Monday morning quarterbacking" and 2nd guessing stuff. LOL.

Go Bears!
I am looking forward to Thursday game Lions Vs. Chiefs. That game will tell us a lot about the risk of Bears getting eaten by Lions.
On the other hand, if the Chiefs wipe the floor with Lions, then I will have to reconsider my objection to the claim that the North is “wide open”.

Graziano brings up some TDL possibilities for late October. In particular for our WR room the Bucs situation is worth monitoring. Evans might be available:
Don't be surprised if ... one or both of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin end up in the trade mix. What I'm hearing: Teams spent the offseason struggling for solutions at wide receiver, and not all of them found those solutions. The demand will continue as the season rolls along and as injuries set in. The Buccaneers are in rebuild mode after Tom Brady's retirement, and they're carrying almost $77 million in dead cap money this year, trying to dump as much of that hit as possible into this year so they can go back into acquisition mode next year. Moving Evans or Godwin to a contender (assuming, as we are, that the Bucs aren't one) at the deadline would help with that project. Evans is the more movable one, because he's making just $13 million in salary this year and is a free agent at year's end, while Godwin has a (non-guaranteed) $20 million due in 2024. But you'll hear these names kicked around in October for sure.
Name me the team that wouldn't have concerns on their o-line if two of their starters were hurt?
Its not 1 WR...its really 3 when you add in Scott and consider Mooney coming back. 4 when you consider Claypool has a full off season in the system.
FIELDS talents says he won't throw the ball 700 times. FIELDS. Maybe its you who needs to understand and get things...cause what YOU think they should do doesn't jive with what Fields talent says they should do.
Claypool, well we got to see the reason Pitt sent him packing for a rookie. Mooney isn't anything special, he's just a dude. Scott's a rookie, mid round, expecting him to do anything is unfair.
Name me a team that would go into a season w/a starting OL that had spent his first 3 years constantly hurt. Chicago?
This is literally almost every team in the NFL. There may be 5 teams in the league that have completely healthy O-lines and stars at every offensive position. It's completely unreasonable to think the Bears in year 2 of a rebuild are going to be anywhere near that. There are only so many moves a GM can make in a year. Poles has made a number of solid steps in improving this team from last year. It's one thing to not be a fan of every move, it's another to act like he's not trying to do anything about making the offense better.

Fields if surrounded by a talent like KC, Buff, Ciny could throw as often as needed and succeed. Surrounded by mid while the team tries to rebuild a def cannot.
If the team feels like you do, then we won't have to worry about this b/c he'll be sent off as they draft another qb next year. And seriously, who's talking 700? 6 qb's were there or even close to 700. Feel free to get to the middle and not laughly behind even the group that is just in front of you in dead last. Lets work at getting to 500-550 range.
Of course that means more then 1-2 draft picks in the first 4. So far it's 3 to 5 in favor of the def. Oh and in FA? last years big sign, big fail, def which prevented them from looking for O. This year, big signs 2 lb's, preventing them from going O. Then they doubled down on the def in the draft too.
Fucking embarrassing for Fields. Entire gawdamned O is scraps while Poles and Flus pretend it's 20yrs ago.
Sorry man, this is just a very twisted interpretation. If you expected every single resource (trade, FA, draft) to be used on Offense alone, then you were being very unrealistic.
The D was horrible too. Especially the front-7 and especially vs the run. In the spring Poles replaced Roquan with Edmunds and Edwards and added Billings (on the cheap) as a run-stuffing NT. On Offense, he added Tonyan @ TE2, Davis as a starting OL (after backing out on McGlinchey in what turned out to be a wise move), and Moore as WR1. Not to mention 2 new RBs which both made the team.
In the draft, he went O-D-D-D-O-O with his 1st-4th round picks. I don't know what you're getting your panties in a wad for there. Edmunds was the ONLY big money defensive acquisition. You also seem to forget that trading for Moore (on OFFENSE) also nets and extra 1sr in 2024 and an extra 2nd in 2025 as part of the deal. Way way more capital was transacted on offense than defense, the highest pick of which was late-2nd round. If Poles had passed on Wright to draft Carter instead, you'd have a strong argument and I'd probably be right there with you.
The only quibble I have with Poles' draft is that I would have liked to grab a C with one of those DL picks but my two guys, Tippman and JMS, were gone. It will have to wait till next spring for a young upgrade there.
Lets look at the top-3 WRs for each team in the division (2 outside WRs + 1 slot WR):
Bears are only team that doesn't have a rookie or an old man (MJones) in their top-3. At none of the 3 positions are the Bears worse than #2 in the division. Overall, Bears top-3 >> Lions & Packers. The only group I'm jealous of is the Vikings and that's 90% because of JJ who's probably a top-3 WR in the entire NFL.
I'm not gonna go through the same exercise for the RB and TE groups but if you look it up you will see that again Bears are no worse than #2 in both. Only Hockensen (Minny) is better than Kmet and only Jones/Dillon is better than Herbert/Foreman/RoJo.
When you consider that the roster got completely nuked last year in a tank season, that's a pretty impressive rebuild thus far. Is it complete? Of course not. We are still one more offseason minimum away from getting there.

No question it's a huge opportunity for the Lions. A win there on the road would definitely make a STATEMENT.
More likely, Goff will wilt under the pressure and KC will cruise to a 27-17 win.

Who's asking for a completely healthy star at ever position OL? 0 people. But if you know that one of your starting OL is never healthy, it MIGHT be wise to take that into consideration come draft day.

Is there anyone hoping to have an Offense as good as any of those 3, or are we hoping the idea was/is to build to something more along the lines of Buff/Cincy/KC, maybe SF?

The idea is to build as good an offense as you possibly can. Don't know what you mean there. Again, this is a work in progress.
Does anyone really think we'd have a "complete roster" just one offseason after a total nuking?
Fields needs to prove himself as a passer this year. If he flops badly (a la Trubisky 2019), then I hope Poles has the courage to move on next spring. Fields wasn't drafted by the current regime. We will have 2 1st round picks and likely two HIGH 1st rounders.
Obviously, I really hope that isn't necessary. Be a way faster rebuild if Fields takes a major step this year. If he does, you go ALL IN next offseason to set up some SB runs.

The spread is 6.5. It will be something of a statement if Lions just cover the spread. If they win, we have a problem. I think Lions might win if they can pressure Mohomes and the refs call the game straight.
