My guess is that this happens if the Bears deal him to get Chris Jones from KC. As much as I like Mooney, a good trade would maybe make sense. Mooney is in his last year of his contract. He is so replaceable next season (Mooney is a 5th round pick). I get it. The Bears have had so much crap at WR that Mooney looks like a superstar to us. He's not.

The one thing I find very encouraging about what we are seeing is the Bears don't seem married to any of "their guys" like we've seen in the past. Not that Mooney was a Poles or Flus guy. But PJ Walker definitely was a Poles choice.

Yeah, it is encouraging to see this. To be competitive - as one of the better teams in the NFL, you have to be this way. I also like how Poles values his draft picks and is careful to not blow them like past GMs. And he is also careful in how he spends Cap dollars. The more I see the more I like about this Bears regime. But I can see that it's going to take until 2024 to truly have the kind of roster needed to do some serious winning. I wonder if Bears fans will be patient with that or go into total meatball mode. Time will tell.
I watched the Bills game. The problem I see with our secondary is that most of them are playing too soft. They sit back and let the WR catch the ball and then try to tackle. Seahawks are trained to CONTEST THE CATCH. Stevenson and Ojemudia were the only guys doing that. Stevenson got burned for a TD, but I still like to see aggressive efforts. I hope Ojemudia does not get cut.
I really like T. Lewis. He didn’t get a sack in this game, partly because they were holding on him at least twice I saw. But he does get consistent penetration into the backfield, showing both speed and power. If he gets cut, I will be pissed.
I was not impressed by Billings on the inside. He was getting pushed around too much on the short yardage plays.
I know you can't accurately predict much from preseason, but it sure looks to me like the Bears are much better talent-wise than last season - but - they have a long ways to go to get that roster where it needs to be. I'm thinking 7 or 8 wins. And if the OL sucks again, then they won't even reach that.
I think most of us thought we’d be solid with Jenkins and Davis at OG. That may still happen, but I agree this OL is not where we expected heading into regular season.
There is a projected 53-man roster in The Athletic today. Tomorrow we get the real 53-man roster. There will surely be differences between these rosters. So, tomorrow I would be interested in your thoughts about those differences.

I think the final 53 will be at least a day past the cuts tomorrow. There will be the initial waiver pickups, and after that we will still see some teams cut to make further room for their waiver pickups. Our fringe players probably won't be safe for a few days beyond tomorrow. I'm super curious about the 16-man practice squad too.

I know, but there will be exactly 53 tomorrow. That’s the group I am talking about. Poles will take in at least 3 lost dogs from other teams. He loves to do that albeit without much success last year.

Yeah...this roster won't be finalized until Wednesday. They have that first waiver claim status...I expect they'll use it to churn the bottom of the roster.

Hey now, He's a top #2 according to the fan boys, he and Chase are going to light up the league b/c Moore is here now. Except Moore will create less catches and yards as this team is clearly built to run early often and most of the time. Shit they didn't even try and let Fields throw in the pre season until the final game; 9 attempts, this is not a team that is even trying to pretend to want to pass. And that's the real reason they'd be thinking of Mooney for another DL.
