4 yrs as a starter, 53 starts, 43 wins, 3-1 TD/INT, 68% comp.

I'm not sure I'd roll 100% with Parcells but I think when you are looking at players to draft later or to pick up as UDFA, roll with the Parcell rules.

I keep coming back to how some of these college QBs are getting drafted with pitifully little starting experience. Bagent at least has performed the job as "The Guy" with solid results. Yes, it's D2 but at least he's run an offense successfully - he holds the NCAA all-time record for passing touchdowns with 159 (blows my mind there). During his senior season, he led D2 in completions (400) and was second in passing yards (4,580), completion percentage (69.9%) and passing TDs (41). Maybe that is part of his confidence at the NFL level. None of that "deer in the headlights" stuff. He processes the opposing D quickly, runs his progressions - and gets the ball out SO quick. He's done this before a bazillion times.

Would have loved to hear his thoughts regarding D2 qb's, b/c he was no doubt talking mostly D1, projected starting qb's. But the fact that he's well above those #'s is a good sign.

On a side, would love to see someone update it w/the new rules that make the O and QB play so much easier.

I agree. For that matter you hope you never see the backups in games. But if we could end up with a decent backup with this guy, it would be mighty nice.

Really like this type of player. Great work ethic, high IQ, positive self-confidence and not arrogance which is important beacuse of the atmosphere in the team. I like to meet such people in everyday life, so why not on the field too

I know its impossible right now, but Id really like to see him as a starter one day.

I agree with you. And while it's a long-shot for him to be a starter, it's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm like you, in that I like to meet these kind of people who are positive and humble. They are just a blessing to be around - so yes, it would be good to have that kind of atmosphere in the locker room of the Bears. Yes, it would be a long shot for him to turn out to be an eventual starter (I'd be happy if he's just a good backup for us). But you never know about what's the future holds for some of these guys from small schools. Anything is possible, right?

I agree with you. And while it's a long-shot for him to be a starter, it's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm like you, in that I like to meet these kind of people who are positive and humble. I think with guys like Bagent, their ceiling is determined by their mental acuity. If they have near photographic memories, really strong pattern recognition skills and can process all this stuff virtually instantly, they can overcome a fair amount of skill deficit. Like not being huge and fast or can run like Walter Payton, etc. As long as they have a strong and accurate passing arm and a fairly quick release.

So, I think it is entirely possible that Bagent could develop into a decent starting QB in the NFL. How likely he is to do that is entirely a different question. The combination of mental skills I started with can be pretty rare.
