Bears OL graded out best of all 32 NFL teams this week.
It was so good watching a Bears OL perform that well. They played an amazing game as a unit, starters and depth players. And there were so many individual 1-on-1 battles where the Bears just dominated the opposing D guys. LOL, I'm watching the game for the 4th time right now. I know. Only a lunatic would watch a first preseason game more than once. But it feels so good to watch an OL execute on this level. The upcoming Colts game on Saturday should be a greater test... it will be interesting to see if the OL can have another solid outing.
LINK OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE WEEK: CHICAGO BEARS Impressive both in pass protection and in creating room for their runners, the Bears' offensive line combined to allow just three hurries from 24 dropbacks. They also had six players who saw at least 10 run-blocking snaps and earned a PFF run-blocking grade of 80.0 or better.
Very unusual for us, even for PS. Or practice, or backyard game..
I think this upcoming Colts game will be a huge test for the team - and especially for our OL. I would guess that the starters will get the most playing time in that game - and not much work in the final game of the preseason.

The Bears are going to lead the NFL in rushing. The passing game will benefit. Overall, the offense should be top-10 and 28-30 ppg. And that is from a person not known for drinking the kool-aid before the season even starts. It just seems obvious. The defense will be the limiting factor on this team.

I've thought about this a lot lately, as far as expectations for the offense and defense this year. Our offense (scoring PPG) was 23rd in the NFL last year at 19.2 ppg. Even improving to 24 ppg would be a top-10 team (last season, anyway). I believe that would be a realistic expectation as far as a one-year improvement. The Detroit Lions were a top-5 team last year scoring 26.6 ppg. I would be thrilled if we could improve that much in one year... that would be one heck of an improvement. Maybe. But at least I would like to see the average ppg in that 24 to 25 ppg range. That should be doable.
The defense was dead last in the NFL last year allowing 27.2 ppg. The defense has better players this year and better depth at some positions. I would expect to see that unit improving to around 22 ppg allowed. That would put them in the middle of the NFL, around 15th or 16th or so in the league. Maybe that is a reasonable improvement to expect in one season. I really don't expect teams to be able to run on us all game long like they did last year. And I also expect to see a better pass rush overall. Not great, but much better than last year. And I think we'll see them force more turnovers this year. I do expect that to happen.

You do drink the Kool-aid. Just not of the Bears. You prefer the drank from the apples of your eyes.
It's funny how you do not notice it but we all get blinded at times.

Not true. I have Bears Kool-Aid all ready. I’m holding back until I see the team on the field in regular season. However, I’m making a partial exception in the case of the Bears offense.
You may have noticed that MANY people besides me have been impressed by Carter. I felt much the same about some Bears (Dent, Wally Chambers, etc.), but I don’t see any defensive linemen on this team near that level.
