If Gipson continues to outplay the rest of this DL in preseason, he might get the starter job.
There was one short-yardage run where Billings got blown out to open a hole. I know it’s only one play, but still a bit worrisome. That shouldn’t happen.
Yeah other than Pickens sack, the DTs didn't look all that great IMO. There's still legit concerns about Dex's "get off speed".
Did anyone note how Leatherwood and Carter looked? Since Patrick gets hurt every time he ties his shoes, need someone who can back up at G.
I wasn’t impressed by any of these guys except Gipson. Meanwhile, Jalen Carter looked great in his very first preseason play— quick penetration and dropped the QB. Warren Sap 2.0 to my eyes.

I saw the Carter play (he played only 2 snaps). He did get a QB hurry. Good for him. mpbears68 Leatherwood had a good game. I think his position at the NFL level is G and not T. He played 41 snaps, and 22 were pass protection snaps. He graded out at 86.4 (6th best pass block grades of all NFL linemen so far in this week's preseason games). He did not allow a single sack, hit or hurry. He looks like a good fit at LG in this offense to me. The top OL in pass block grades this week was Josh Sills of the Eagles with an 87.6. Granted it's just one preseason game, but Leatherwood looked like a very solid G backup if Jenkins goes down to injury. He's listed as Jenkins backup on the depth chart... I'm breathing a bit easier now if Jenkins goes down.

Please tell me we aren't gonna start this up again.
Poles was never gonna draft Carter and with good reason

He was awful at T and my understanding was that he had a lot of penalties with the Raiders when they tried him at G.
If that's cleaned up and he looked solid as you said, that's a major score. IDK what the heck is going on with Nate Davis but he and Patrick have been hurt a lot and Jenkins hasn't exactly been durable his first 2 years either. We need Borom, Carter, and Leatherwood to be at least serviceable as backups.

It’s a short list when you take out teams that drafted QBs. I expect Anderson and Carter to be strong contenders for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

+1 That's the bottom line with me too. Of course we want great starters on the OL. But competent backups are very important also. Leatherwood was a bust as a Raiders' 1st round draft pick. No question of that. But he wasn't OUR first round pick. If he is just a solid backup, then I'm fine with that. He is making $1.9-mil this season. By comparison, Carter and Borom are getting $900,000 or right around that, this season. The new guy, Logan Stenberg is getting around $1-mil. So, Leatherwood is probably being overpaid for a backup guard. But to cut him this year would incur a $4.5-mil dead cap. So, if he can perform as a solid LG (good enough to truly pass-protect Fields if Jenkins goes down with his annual IR gig) then it's worth paying him this year.

Actually, I was starting to get over it until Eagles training camp reports started coming in. There were reasons, but I still predict they were not good. All the issues were transitory.
The new guy (Lewis #52) made a nice play like Mack coming behind QB to hit arm and cause fumble. What do you think of him?

He played 38 snaps and had 2 sacks and a hurry. That strip-sack turnover was a very nice play for sure. Sounds like he's having a great camp too.
LINK "Terrell Lewis has been a standout player during training camp, and after Saturday’s preseason win, it feels like he has a legitimate shot to make the roster. Lewis generated consistent pressure off the edge, leading the way with 2.0 sacks against the Titans. He added two tackles, one QB hit and a forced fumble. If Lewis continues his strong play, there’s no reason he won’t make the roster."
