CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If the third preseason game is indeed an indication of which players will make the team and which will not, it's certainly not a good sign for Patriots defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, who was considered to be one of the club's top signings in free agency.
Knighton, who struggled a week ago against Chicago, did not log a single defensive snap during New England's 19-17 Friday night win over Carolina.
Afterward, the 350-pound Knighton confirmed that he is "100 percent healthy."
"It's disappointing just because, you know, I've played a lot of ball in this league, seen a lot of things," Knighton said. "I'm not going to make too much of it. It is what it is. Whatever happens, happens. If I'm here, I'm here. If I'm not, I'm not. I'm just taking it a day at a time."
Knighton added, "I've still got a lot of ball left in me, so it is what it is."
Would it be worth a vet minimum contract to have him backup Goldman or try to fix whatever is wrong and have him slide into the NT position and slide Goldman outside?
