Who are some of your non-star Bears from the past (or now)?

I agree. I just wanted to mention his name for everyone here who is less than 70 years old, so never had a chance to see him play. He was definitely star for the rest of us, and played when Bears were sorely lacking in stars. I used to turn on the TV, knowing the Bears would lose, just to see “Wally Wally” (my nickname for him) perform.

He was an incredible class-act guy.  He had an amazing 14 year career.  I've read that he was quite a leader, respected as a great guy on and off the field.  I was so impressed by him at summer training camps over the years.  He always had time after practices to sign autographs for the kids.  No ego.  Some of the big name players would be riding their golf carts ignoring the kids but not Garza... he'd be dripping sweat (some of those days were beastly hot) and you know the guy was shot physically after practice and just wanting to get in the locker room and shower - but he'd sign autographs forever so that the young kids got their autograph before going home.  Class act all the way.


weneedmorelinemen says that on top of all of that, the guy's "real" accomplishment was coming up with the super donut (#1 in nutrition you know).  

I loved A.Peterson. Wonder what he is doing now?
