I'm bored tonight and watching an old Bears-Lions game from 38 years ago. It's being played at Chicago in Bears weather (near freezing temps with wind gusts that blew the goal post over... snapped it like match sticks... and it took 'em 30 minutes to install an entirely new goal post). Anyway, I have always loved watching Matt Suhey as a fullback who got very little credit for anything, but who was so key to Walter Payton's success. Suhey, from Penn State, was an amazing guy who could catch, run - and was a stellar blocker for Payton... just amazing to watch.

What non-stars have been some of your Bears favorites to watch?

Adrian Peterson, Desmond Clark, Marty Booker, Hunter Hillenmeyer. Love the "lunch pail" guys who can just simply be counted on to do their job consistently well. Not flashy, but dependable.

All good guys, but Dez Clark, was one of my favorite guys at TE for the Bears. A 6th round draft pick who carved out a nice 12 year NFL career, and 8 of those seasons was as a Bear.

Wally Chambers was really amazing. But he was a 1st round draft pick (8th overall pick of the draft). He was expected to be great, and he was. He was the NFL Rookie of the Year. He was also Pro Bowl, All-Pro - and even the NFL Defensive Player of the Year multiple times. So he really was a legit star player.

I loved our secondary back then, Mike Brown, Chris Hitman Harris and Nathan Vasher.

And yes, Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler. They were never stars, but I still was a big fan. Go ahead, judge me.

Dez Clark, Bernard Berrian, Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett, Matt Slauson, Nick Roach, Sherrick McManis and Jordan Howard are also players I enjoyed watching and rooting for over the years.

Johnny Knox, Tom Waddle, Chris Harris, Alonzo Spellman(I know...judge me all you want, but I was a teenager and he was JACKED!!!), Warrick Holdman, Bobby Engram, Tony Parrish, Barry Minter, Neal Anderson...I'll think of more later.

I was at the game when Johnny Knox got hurt so badly. I'll never forget that. He never recovered completely to this day. Just heartbreaking.

All of those guys were really good to watch. Vasher & Peanut were good together. My son had an autographed picture of those two. Matt Slauson was a solid guy for us too. Lotta memories of some good games from the past with those guys, right?
