I have always preferred what Eagles, Lions, Jags, Seahawks did over the radical (unprecedented) approach Poles adopted.
Not sure how you can have a preference over something that hasn't been proven but you do you.
As I have said before, the concern I have with the Poles approach is that he may be cutting/trading so many players that he will never completely dig himself out of his deep hole even with $100 million cap and the #1 draft pick. That is what is unproven. I am more comfortable with a more traditional approach based on a solid mix of draft picks, trades, and FAs.
That depends on the objective. If the standard is to just get above.500 and make the playoffs, then it won’t matter that the Eagles, Jags, Bengals, Seahawks, and LIONS did a a better and faster rebuild since 2021 and are still beating our ass in 2025. That’s not the standard Poles set for himself or one I would be satisfied with. What result is “good”?
I'm not talking about a .500 team. My point is that good teams can be built in different ways and achieve success. Every GM, player, coach, team is unique. No two are exactly alike. There are multiple ways to build a good team. All we really care about is that Poles' plan works. And I am agreeing with your point that we will just have to wait and see what happens with Poles' approach to team building. All we have witnessed so far is the teardown season. And that's it. Let's watch how this season goes and see what progress has been made - and talk at that point (end of season) about what still remains to be done with the draft and cap capital Poles has stockpiled for 2024 - including two 1st round draft picks. I am not criticizing what those other teams have done. Just saying there can be success here without trying to be some other team. Frankly, if we were to try and copy another team. I sure wouldn't want to be try and copycat one of those teams because we are not them. Again, not saying they are bad. Let's just watch this Bears plan unfold and then just see where we are at.
Exactly! Any monkey can nuke a roster with cuts and trades. That is why I find some of these articles about Poles premature. He may be a genius for doing his radical roster destruction to get his $100 million and #1 draft pick, but only if he turns this into a Super Bowl ready team by 2025. Otherwise, he is unforgiven for torturing us with that horrible 2022 team.
