I hope you're right about the offense. I'd like to see some semblance of good ball/clock control by the offense.
It will take a lot of pressure off the defense.
Flus says, “We are going to run the ball.” Our offensive line is better run blocking than pass blocking. Focus the offense on what you do best. Besides, the opponents cannot score without the ball. Fields just needs to mix in the passes to maintain balance.
I will be surprised if Bears aren’t around 30ppg. The problem may be that the defense is there, too. We need much better performance by the defensive line — from guys like Dexter and Gipson.

I am currently optimistic about our PPG on offense. My concern is having an offense that is too "explosive". I know that with a QB like Fields who has great deep ball skills and some good WRs there will be big gains. But we will need to have the ability to hand the ball off to our RBs 4 - 6 times in a row and move the chains. Even if the defense plays fairly well, we do not have much (if any) depth on the defensive front 7. We need to take time off the clock on offense consistently so the front 7 comes in relatively fresh on each change of possession.

Don’t worry. Getsy will keep this offense disciplined with his play-calling. The Bears coaches are committed to running the ball. Fields will still get some deep shots, but it will be within a ball control, run-oriented offense. That should be the identity of this offense to keep the DL fresh and avoid “shootouts” with other teams.

Exactly!
The OC (or whoever is calling the plays) can always go to a more pass-heavy calling scheme if the opponent's defense starts/keeps stacking 8 - 9 dudes in the box. But IMO it should go back to a very run focused scheme if they start doubling 2 or more receivers and keep at least 1 DB deep as a center fielder.

I absolutely love having an offense that is not one-dimensional. The O this year should have the talent to run and pass. Both, Opposing defenses can pick their poison, but the end result is going to be tough for them. I don't expect the Bears to put up gaudy numbers passing or running, but rather have a nice mix of both.

This is where Fields needs to focus on his development.
He has mechanical issues (footwork, minor throwing mechanics, etc) to correct. IMO these are easily corrected, and we should see proof of this in TC and PS.
But more importantly he needs to work on the recognition keys for defenses. He needs to be able to do his pre-snap reads quickly, call audibles, as required. This is going to be where your "opposing defense can pick their poison" comes in. I've watched a lot of videos on how QBs are supposed to recognize defensive formations and coverages. A good QB should be able to see what most likely defense off a given defensive set and switch to an alternative in the game plan as required.
If he is passing, he needs 3 to 3.5 seconds of relatively low-pressure play time to go through his progressions. This will really kick up his passing stats.
I don't know if we can have davidl like numbers (3000 rushing yds and 4000 passing yds), but I'd like to see a minimum of 2500 rushing yds with a max of Fields' rushing around 500 - 750 yds. Meaning at least 2000 yds from our RBBC (or Three-Headed Monster). And at least 2500 passing yds (hopefully over 3000 yds).
IMO this will give us a 10-win season and possibly on top of the NFCN.

Here is a tweet I just saw form the Maine South HS folks. Seems that Fields, Kmet, Moore and Mooney were getting some work in on their passing game at the high school's football field yesterday.
My only comment is I thought Mooney was 5'10: or 5'11" and 180lbs. I believe Mooney is on the left. If so, that picture makes him look more like 200lbs (or maybe a few more).

I agree that Fields needs to refine his mechanics. And he knows this and is working on it. What will help him and this offense is to (finally) have WRs who can run routes and get open - and catch the football when it is thrown to them. Fields needs for people to be where they are supposed to be, and when they are supposed to be there - for a passing game to work. If WRs are all over the place, running crap routes and dropping passes... well, there is nothing a QB can do to overcome that. The passing game is dead on arrival if the WRs can't perform. But I do believe we (finally) have a WR unit that can at least perform at an acceptable level. Not talking great, but just "acceptable" level here.
I like to believe the OL will be "good enough" for Fields to get it done this year. He will play faster due to multiple factors. I'm thinking he'll get the ball out faster due to his internal clock running better on plays now that he has receivers he can have confidence in, and he has familiarity with the O scheme (first time for Fields to NOT have to learn a new offense). I think he will settle down with better pocket presence too. Also, the RB run game is his best asset due to defenses having to fear the run (RB's not Fields). Add all of that up and I think we'll have a better year on offense. Hey, we were scoring over 19-ppg last year. If this offense adds 5-ppg this year (very doable) that would put us at a top-10 team scoring offense (last year we'd have been 9th in the NFL). I think that would be a HUGE improvement for 2023.
Our greater problem was that the defense was last in the league on defense PPG allowed, at 27.2 ppg allowed. Even though we did not sign or draft a great edge rusher, I still believe we will see the defense improve quite a bit in 2023. There has been a significant talent upgrade and this will be year-2 in the new D scheme. I don't see teams gashing us on run plays like they did last year. No way that is going to happen this year. Maybe that ppg stat will come down to around 21 o2 22 ppg. That would put us as a middle of the NFL in ppg allowed. I'll take that in '23. Because it will be a significant improvement in just one season.

I wonder whether Mooney had official approval to participate.
