Yeah, that’s what I’m taking. I want to see him push Mooney for the starting job and make V. Jones expendable.
Don't get me wrong -- love the pick and think Scott is gonna be a solid player for us in due time. He's shown elite speed and some slick route running moves in camp so far.
But.....he's also had a substantial number of dropped passes and muffed punts (including some today).
IMO, he's a #4 for this year and not a threat to Mooney. I don't think he's competition for Velus either as a gadget/return man, not yet anyway. I do expect VJ to make the team and it's a battle between Pettis and EQ for the final WR spot. Betting on EQ.

Well, I hope you are wrong about Scott. As soon as Mooney or Claypool get injured, I would like to see him in the starting lineup. I have seen enough of V. Jones. Scott can do anything he can do and more. I would cut Jones or Pettis.
I hope all the rookies picked up in 2022 make significant progress in their second season in the NFL. Historically, this often happens. And just like we should see progress from Jaquan Brisker, Kyler Gordon, Dominique Robson and Braxton Jones, I expect we will probably be pleasantly surprised with Velus Jones as well.
I have already heard that Jones has done better in ST drills in TC. But I'm sure we will know a lot more about this after a PC game or two.

We will know when he is under pressure in a regular season game and doesn’t drop the ball and lose us the game.

Yeah, that's my take on it too. If teams gave up on rookies because... well because they played like rookies in their rookie season, LOL, you wouldn't have many guys playing their sophomore season :-)

I just doubt they're gonna give up on a 3rd round pick in Velus after just one season. The whole team was a dumpster fire in a tank year.
As I said, Scott has muffed a few punts in TC so far so I don't think he's a big upgrade thus far on STs.

Gordon has had a great camp so far.
Unless a guy is completely awful or an off-field cancer, you don't see 1st-5th round draft picks get cut very often after their rookie season. I don't think Velus is in danger of not making the team unless he screws up huge in PS games.

35) It was interesting to hear Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus call fresh signee Yannick Ngakoue an "every-down end" before he ever put on a Bears uniform. Then again, Ngakoue getting more than $10 million last week on a one-year deal said it for Eberflus. With the additional pickup of blocking tight end Marcedes Lewis, the Bears are using their excessive cap space.
36) The Bears are young at a lot of positions, but their tight end room of Lewis, Cole Kmet and Robert Tonyan is fully grown. They figure to be a big part of the offense. Kmet, incidentally, was the first Bears draft pick since Tarik Cohen to earn a contract extension from the team.
37) Chicago plans to use 2022 second-rounder Kyler Gordon as a slot-only cover man this season. Gordon has expressed mixed feelings about it because every cornerback likes playing outside, but he could be one of the best in football at nickelback.
