O.Brown gone. Not much left at OT now.

Hyperbole my dear friend. there are only a few high volume posters going angsty. Of all the Bears places I go (windycity, CSS, my crazy family and a few others) this is the most sane. The discussion here never goes into "Your momma is fat and your wife/girlfriend/husband is ugly too" level of discourse. We all tend to get along with each other.

But you have to admit: it is surprising at the sudden level of doom around this FA period. Despite the fact that we all pretty much agreed that FA is a cesspool and a trap that often leads to overpaying vets who are not worth it. Suddenly the season is over! Over I tell ya!

So far I’m happy with how we’re proceeding since the tear down. Poles inherited a mess when he came in. While it’s early to call him our savior, it’s fair to say he has a plan and he seems to stay within it. I don’t see that he’s going to let a player dictate to him money or position (Roq wanted $$, Jenkins wanted to be a tackle, and possibly OB saying LT is all I’ll play). He’s sending messages that it’s his team. Buy in, get out or don’t come here.

Looking at the offense:
Oline - we need a RT and possibly a center and we don’t know how Tyre Carter fits yet. Brilliant grab of Jones at LT.
RB - losing Monty hurt but he’s been replaced.
TE - Kmet keeps improving and I expect we’ll probably snag a TE in the draft.
QB - done (Pace score) and we’ve now grabbed qb2
WR - done but I can see us drafting another one.

Defense:
Backend - went from a problem to fixed in the draft. I can see us drafting a CB.
LB’s - fixed.
Dline - need a 3t and edge.

Poles has made a lot of progress in a short period of time. I’m sure we’d all like to have had him do something else along the way, but once the oline and dline are addressed we can evaluate where we are and then make improvements going forward. As JABF said following the Belichick method. Our draft focus will be on the 2 lines and some improvements elsewhere, but the lines should be it. This years draft has lots of opportunities to help us improve across the board with so many picks.

I've heard that too and I'm sure that's the rationale they will use in public.  Tom Thayer was asked about that very thing a week ago regarding Brown and he said the "scheme fit" thing is overblown and wasn't concerned.  I'm gonna assume a former pro-bowl OL knows more about that than I do.

I'm gonna assume Thayer while being an "insider" and a former Pro-Bowl player was not privy to the discussions the FO had about any of the FA.
