There will always be a few players who don't test well but can play who won't be top picks but do become good pros. We've had a few of them over the years. And there are still a few vet FA DT out there to look at although none that seem to fit our need for a 3 tech guy which is why a draftee like Lukas Van Ess will get some serious looks from us. Others like Kancey, Adebawore, and Tulipolotu may be there in rounds two or three due to their size. There are also other bigger DTs who look like good mid round prospects.
A former Baylor Bear becomes a Chicago Bear. His combine scoring was very good for a guy his size. Good 1 tech/NT who can anchor and yet still has the athleticism to chase or pressure. Fifty one games played as an NFL starter. Good find for little money.
I think Floyd would be interesting in our scheme but I’m not sure if he’d buy into the HITS program. He was ok when he was here, but did better under the Rams coaching and system.
If the Bears grabbed one guy off of this list, who should it be?
Lot's of Edge prospects in this years draft make for a slower market for vets. Some of these guys will get picked up later this summer much like the Bears picked up Reiff and Schofield last summer. I believe that for now teams will want to see who they can get in the draft and how ready those guys are before dropping bucks on a vet.
