Want a good laugh?
This guy thinks trading Fields for L.Jackson straight up is a great idea for both teams. Ravens get a cost controlled QB and the Bears get an experienced QB as they rebuild.

Yeah, was listening to the show earlier today. Why on earth would you trade for an older, injury-prone and less talented QB?? That was a crazy statement. lol

I think the guy who wrote that just wanted a shock factor and to draw attention to himself with a wild outlandish claim. Might as well have said KC should swap Mahomes for Jackson... sure, don't all teams deal away their #1 franchise asset player?
Fields is our #1 most valuable asset in the entire franchise.
And on top of that we have him on a rookie contract. LOL, at the guy in the article saying the Bears should take on Jackson because we have all this cap space... like we should just piss that away on a guy we don't need right now. Nothing against Lamar, but we don't need him.
Buckner or Nelson would be the only two I consider. I'm very concern about Pittman. I don't see him as a true #1 WR and I don't want another Claypool situation happening.
A guy like Nelson would be an instant improvement for the line. Even though he did have a down year last year he would change the offense in a good way.
Buckner would be at a far more important position so I got to go with him. Then if Anderson is there at #4. I would go for him just to add that one two punch back on defense. If not then trade down again to a team that wants Carter.

All three of these players would be upgrades at positions of need.
It's still way early and initial FA in March may alter priorities but right now, I'm leaning toward Nelson. Leaning but certainly open to changing my mind. Here's why:
Cody Whitehair has been a solid player but is done as a Bear. He's over 30 now, hasn't played that well last 2 seasons, and has a $14.1m cap hit in 2023. He will be traded or more likely released this offseason. Nelson is younger, way better, and would cost us only $2.5m more as his signing bonus stays on INDY'S BOOKS not ours. Out of guaranteed money after just one more year.
Nelson is instant massive upgrade at LG. Add a C like Bozeman in FA + draft pick at RT and you suddenly have a rock solid young OL. You want to "protect Fields"? This is a huge step forward toward that goal.
Pittman is my 2nd choice cuz he's young and has produced despite crap QB play. But Poles would need to negotiate a contract extension with him as part of the deal as you're not making this trade for a one-year rental. Thus, he's not as "cheap" as his current contract suggests. Still, if you want to give Fields better weaponry, you're getting a 6'4" 90 catch receiver who's only 25 yo.
Buckner is my last choice at this point. Good player don't get me wrong, but 28 yo and has a big contract. If Carter is all that and a bag of chips, why not draft him for a way cheaper and younger player? Plus, he's a DT and not a surrounding cast piece for Fields.
PS: Correction--Nelson is only due $6m in salary this year and that's the last of his fully guaranteed money. He's actually 1/2 the cost of Whitehair. Nelson is my #1 target

I see Pittman similar to Robinson. Great player when you have a shit QB who has to rely on you for everything. ( Allen Robinson ) but will not get the numbers he gets with a QB like fields.
Nelson would be my #1 but I don't really see the Colts wanting to give him up when they need him for their young QB so that leads Buckner. You may say why get an expensive vet when we can get a younger version of him. Well... Few reasons. 1) We don't know if Carter will even be as good as Buckner. 2) We might want to trade down even more to get more picks for this team. 3) Anderson might be there and having Buckner/Anderson combo could be similar to Hicks/Mack.
For me.
Choice #1 is Nelson by a mile Choice #2 is Buckner because he is a proven great player Choice #3 is Pittman, still a unproven player if you ask me.

Im sorry, but how can Whitehair be released? Did u see his dead cap? He not going anywhere, also Leatherwood. Only OL we could get rid of is Lucas, and I hope we do that.
