I just read the Falcons will take him at #8 if he is still there. I will be worried about Lions getting him. He’s going to be Pro Bowl DL for somebody, hopefully not Lions. Seahawks will probably take a DE.
I figure he will still get drafted high by somebody. I have no doubt he has the physical gifts to be great at the NFL level. But his mental and character issues look very iffy. We've both seen a number of players come into the league with off-the-charts physical talent, that failed in the NFL. He is a high-risk, high-reward kind of guy. I can definitely see why a team would be in a position to roll the dice and gamble on him - and that gamble could pay off in a good way. I just don't want the Bears to do any gambling right now. They can't afford to miss with that first pick this year. And honestly, they can't afford too many misses with ALL of their picks this year.
I would be glad just to get Anderson by any means. No risk, high reward.

Bears just sent theirs packing in Roquan Smith. Don't need dudes that make poor off field decisions.
Ric, this guy's character issues reminded me of Tank Johnson. Obviously this guy has more talent. But I think he could have the same character issues. He sure seems immature and that kind of loose cannon type of guy. We've had others like that too. Right now the team doesn't need the distractions and poor locker room influence (this isn't Georgia where he'll have "handlers" babysitting him 24/7 and paying his legal fines and taking care of his court cases. And the Chicago police won't be like those Athens PD guys who are undoubtedly pressured to look the other way with those players as much as possible (as an ex-cop I can read between the lines) Those small town cops know to let stuff go if it is a UG player running wild. I'll bet 99% of the incidents are "overlooked" - and no way that happens in Chicago (like they did with Tank).

Yeah, I like the kid too. Off the charts talent. Off the charts character too. I could see him as one of those priceless guys in the locker room too. Just a good guy. He could have a Hall of Fame career for someone.
Geno isn't the guy. He's not gonna repeat his 2022 season.
So you know more about Seahawks than Schneider and Carroll? How many of their games did you watch last year? Oh, I forgot you believe anybody over age 30 has one foot in the grave.
The fact they re-signed him was A) no surprise and B) does NOT mean he's the long-term future guy. He's a short-range bridge option
Geno fucking blows. He's blown since the day he entered the league (Rex Ryan called him "brutal" to watch in practice) and he's blown on 3 other teams since. Yes, he caught everyone by surprise and had a career season in 2022. Lightning in a bottle. It won't be repeated and Seattle has to know that.
I repeat: no 5th team 32 yo QB has suddenly become a franchise long-term term starter.

He could still be valuable for a year (maybe even two) while the Seahawks spin up a young draftee kid. I'd love to see Geno end his career with a few good years (last year and one or two more). That could be good for the Seahawks and Geno too. Then let the new kid take over when ready.

EVER
It has NEVER happened, even once.
To quote one of my favorite political commentators, “Everything is unprecedented until it happens.” If you’ve ever heard Pete Carroll talk about Geno, they have confidence in him and just backed it up with $105M. I watch all Seahawks games. I agree with Pete.
You did not answer my question. How many Seahawks games did you watch last year?

That’s why (absent a Trey Lance deal), maybe the best move is trade with Texans and draft Anderson. Get their second round pick and draft a WR.
I just read the Flus quote about Bears needing a real “playmaker” at WR (Fishbain article in The Athletic), Fishbain listed a half dozen WR1 who were drafted in second round. Bears must draft a slot receiver with that first pick in second round….
1. Flowers 2. Boutte 3. Downs
JSN, Addison, Johnston will go first round. I don’t know where Hyatt is going, but I don’t want him.
Between our desperate need for a WR and Flus admitting it, Poles' indication that he can get at least a '24 1st rounder and '25 1st rounder (indicating a decent trade down), Fields' glowing praise and desire to play with JSN again, and JSN's combine performance, I think it's very possible he's the Bears' main target in the first at this point.
No one is touching that train wreck in the top-10.

Don't care who takes him. He may become a perennial pro-bowl player; he may become Henry Ruggs 2.0
Just don't want a risk like that on the Bears. We can take a different good player with a higher floor in the 1st round.

Exactly
That's what a bridge QB is. Same thing with Goff on the Lions. He isn't the long-term answer there either, despite having an excellent season in 2022.
