Not likely. Texans will take one at #2. Cards might sell the other one, leaving the Bears with either Anderson or Carter at #4.
Funny post on Seahawks forum today: “If Texans draft Levis, they should draft a punter with their second pick.” I can’t believe how fast Levis is jumping over Young and Stroud. I swear, he looks like the second-coming of Trubisky to me.
A) Wouldn't that be a dream scenario? I'll take Anderson there. I know you prefer Carter. But still...
B) Don't know yet the order these QBs are gonna end up in but doesn't surprise me at all to hear rumors of Levis moving up. I think they all will end up going in the top-10, just not sure yet where. QBs get over-drafted all the time. Trubisky went #2 for crying out loud. Nothing new here.
I could write you a long list of crap QBs who were drafted in the high 1st round.
I do not have a strong preference. I would be delighted to get either. Watched Jahns and Hoge 1/19 YouTube yesterday. Hoge did some research on the top-2 non-QBs taken in the draft since 2017. He says you would have gotten a can’t miss star with the top-2, but below that there is considerable more risk of drafting a bust. That was his argument for doing the Colts deal. He prefers Carter over Anderson. My position is that I want the Colts deal UNLESS the Raiders/Panthers give up THREE 1st round picks in their package (I.e.,a Trey Lance deal).
They also would like the trade for D-Hop or Evans, if only here for a couple years. Jahns made the same point I raised a couple days ago. Fields needs a real WR1 in this team to practice with a good route runner. We also need to draft the would be future WR1 in the second round #53.

I watched the same pod last night too. Jahns argument was that, in a trade down, you'd like to still be reasonably assured of still landing your top DE, DT, or OT prospect. If you buy that, that puts your trade down range in the top-5. Maybe at most top-6 if you think 3 QBs will go top-5 rather than just 2. Couple of takeaways here:
Notice how there's no WR or even lockdown CB in that list. It's still early, but right now doesn't appear to be any elite prospects at those "premier positions" in this draft.
Secondly, OT depends a lot upon how FA goes. If you land Orlando Brown in FA, then OT goes away as a top target. Also depends upon how they see Braxton. Poles obviously likes him and raved about him in his end-of-season presser. Do they see him as a rising LT prospect for the future or as a future RT? If it's the former, then you can wait and draft an RT in round 2.
Finally, it's a similar story at DT. If you land QWilliams or Payne in FA (or even my fave "sleeper" guy in Zach Allen), then priority at DT goes down. You can double-dip on the interior DL later in the draft rather than in the top-5. There's also several other really good DT prospects in this draft who don't have the hype that Carter does. I'm not opening that can of worms again--just saying there are other options if the concerns about Carter turn out to be valid. Will know more as the evaluation process plays out.
My bottom line at this point remains the same. You aren't going to get an top-tier edge rusher in FA and the Bears desperately need one, so Anderson is still my top target for round 1.

Quinnen Williams isn't a free agent. The Jets picked up his 5th year option. He will be a free agent following the 2023 season.

They didn’t mention much about WR, because they were mostly talking about the first pick. I want WR at #53, plus trade for vet WR1. As they said, the picture will be clearer after FA. I agree with Faiz that getting WR1 is the one thing Poles absolutely must get done this off-season.
I am not trading with the Lions — there should be alternatives. My position is do the Colts deal, unless somebody offers three first round picks as compensation for losing out on Anderson/Carter.

My bad. Thought I had read he was a FA. Thanks for the correction.

I'm curious about trading down twice. The latest was a mock trading with Houston, then trading again to the Colts for even more picks and still in the top of the round for DE Anderson.

Could be doable?!! Crazy to think of, but why not if it makes sense.
