Keep him on the bench for a few weeks. No reason to risk any more injuries to your long-term investment. Also, let Siemian play to see if he's worth keeping around next year.
sit him the rest of the season. No point in playing him anymore this year behind this OL w/no WR talent outside Kmet and Mooney.
+1 Fields himself admitted today that his shoulder IS separated with partially torn ligaments. He explained it as being somewhat similar to an ACL tear. He has extreme pain just throwing a football. Letting all of that sink in you think the Bears would have to be nuts to let him play - especially since he will be used as a running back taking more hard tackling with the torn shoulder ligaments being risked further. Why on earth would the Bears even THINK about this? Pull the plug on his season. Get him healthy and get him an NFL-quality offense in 2023. Fix the OL. Fix the WR unit. Don't allow this kid to play with a torn shoulder... I mean, what is the purpose with a 3-win team? We are not competing for anything, right?
Fix the OL and give the kid a chance in 2023. Get rid of the OL wannabees. Get legit talent there. Get a WR1 who has legit talent.

I just don't think there is one in the 1st where we are picking this year. I know the fan favorite on the board from TCU has been hurt last few weeks. I haven't looked at the rest of his career or if he's injury prone. We just can't miss on the WR1 that we draft. Especially if it's at #3 to #6 where certain members say we must draft WR1.

Truth be told, this is something he could play with. Guys do it all the time. It's an AC joint sprain. Its nothing that requires surgery.

Okay, good to know. You know more about this than I do. From the Fields comments today it sounded like something significant (partially torn ligaments). And all I could think about is that if the throwing motion is causing him significant pain (according to him) then that can't be good. I just don't see the point in a 3-win season, allowing him to to play, especially considering the punishment he takes even when healthy. Gotta admit it does not make sense to me to play him.

Trent Dilfer said he should play. He said he played with all sorts of injuries and so do other guys. Urlacher sure did it, and he was getting hard contact nearly every play. Diler says QBs consider it a "badge of honor" to play with an injury. Fields said he would play so long as doctors give him the go-ahead regarding risks. I do not think that will happen, though. We are going to see two backup QBs. Wilson has been benched!

Maybe he should then. It seems nuts to me, but you and Butkus both brought up additional info I did not realize. To be honest I don't know anything about the injury. And Butkus is knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. I'm not. When I heard separated shoulder, partially torn ligaments and pain going through the throwing motion - that sounded pretty bad to me. But I stand corrected.

Yeah, Dilfer also said he could play with this injury. But Hoge (?) made the point that the Jets have a very good defensive line, so Fields could have a tough day with them. They have 32 sacks. Personally, I would like to rest him a couple weeks to be ready for the Packers. I REALLY want to beat Rodgers. A loss on the road to the Jets is tolerable.

Exactly! And it's on his non-throwing shoulder. These are common non-surgical injuries.
All I care about the next 6 games are beating Green Bay, getting Fields more experience (and time with Claypool), and getting the best possible draft position. Finishing 4-13 is fine be me.
Maybe sit him Sunday, let him beat Green Bay, and then re-evaluate if he's still hurting.
