What is Adrian Amos doing playing safety for the Bears?

I like him. Safeties who come in as total studs are one of the rarest commodities in football. More often, players need a ton of experience and coaching at the position before they look like anything beyond mediocre. He and HJQ are not our problem.

Fair enough...but who expected Amos to be a playmaker in the mold of Eric Berry or Sean Taylor? Nobody that I can remember, and that certainly wasn't in his scouting report. In fact one of his knocks was that he's not a chance taker...so I'm wondering why we are expecting something of someone when they were never that type of player. Amos is a SOLID safety. He's not spectacular, but he won't cost you a game either.
