Looks like Poles is going to stand pat until after the draft, which is isn't necessarily a bad thing. Who knows, a trade opportunity may present itself but he is sticking to his draft philosophy.
Yup, actions speak louder than words. He's filled spots with some role players and landed his starting LB duo. Now it's time to focus on his own board and on playing 3D chess with other GMs. He's been very crafty so far so lets see if that carries over into draft weekend.

Not much out there anyway. I think most teams are going to be in a holding pattern until after the draft.
Between the 39-50 second mark Kapman there's a lot of smoke regarding a tradedown into the teens.
+1 I read somewhere yesterday (I think it was in The Athletic) that there are 4 teams that very well could want to trade the Bears for that #9 pick. Especially if one of the better QBs fall to that #9 spot. I'll bet it is a 50-50 odds thing at this point. We win either way though. There will be a few players at #9 who would be huge for us. Difference-makers. But if we trade down (even into the 20's) there are going to be players who will be fantastic upgrades... even All-Pro level upgrades at some point. We could even end up with another 2024 1st round draft pick - so, 3 first round draft picks next season... in time for the 2nd year of our rebuild. This is long-ball Poles is playing, so 2024 matters. It matters a lot. The 2023 player upgrade is going to be massive, but 2024 will be just as important.

The same argument you make for moving down can be made in reverse for not trading up. If it’s a great deal for us, it’s a bad deal for them. You would need Levis to drop to #9, and some QB-needy team that has him #1 on their QB board scared he’ll get drafted before their pick.

I was watching CHGO pod/you tube yesterday with Carm and Moreano. They did an OL breakdown which was a lot of stuff we all know about the top guys. But it made me see the wisdom of taking PJJ at #9 even more. Damn he's a good OT prospect and and solid, high-floor character guy. First round OTs also have a history of surprising success in the NFL. Meaning that they tend to bust at a lower rate than other positions do.
All in all, seems to me there's a powerful case to stay at #9 and draft him.
Now if he's off the board already and/or someone offers a good trade down deal, then sure you gotta consider it seriously. I could see an scenario where a QB (Richardson or Levis) makes it to #9 and some team wants to get him just like we did when Fields fell to #11.
Washington seems like a promising candidate but not the only one. I want Sweat in that deal. I'll give Wash the #9 pick for Sweat and the #16 pick. Especially if Bears really like Skoronski and Broderick Jones as I think decent shot one of them makes it the mid-1st.

Yeah, if PJJ is there at #9 I'm with you, we need to pull that trigger and draft him. Don't get too greedy in all of this. Take your guy there. I was thinking this morning about how well Poles has set this up. If we end up with DJ Moore and an elite LT - along with all the draft picks he got us, including 2024, well, it's as good as you could ever dream. This could not have been played any better.

FWIW Greg Gabriel clues us in on a couple of guys who may fall into Poles value bucket if he does trade back for more picks. OT/Oklahoma Anton Harris. DL/Ga Tech Keion White.
Harris was a LT starter in college but could also move to RT and a guy we wouldn't be paying a top ten pick premium for. White was a bigger long armed college DE much like DeMarcus Walker who could also move inside on passing downs. Dane Brugler has him ranked at #40 with Harris ranked at #63.

I think I'm in on this too. If PJJ is still on the board at #9 I think Poles pretty much has to turn in his card. Between he and and Braxton Jones he's now resolved his needs at OT with two young players to build a championship OL around. Chances like this don't come around often and we've not spent a high pick on an OT since Carimi.
If PJJ isn't there and a team like Washington offers Sweat and #16 for #9 and Poles believes he can take Jones there that would also be a good enough trade to consider. We by pass some DL talent in both cases but Greg Gabriel is touting a 2nd round guy that would also be a good fit, Keion White from Ga. Tech. Similar to DeMarcus Walker.

I am still saying 99% that it will be Johnson. I can imagine them taking Skoronski, but Johnson is better prospect than Skoronski at RT. I would even take Broderick Jones over him at RT.
I would only trade down farther if some foolish GM made a stupid offer.
