So talking about all this the last few days; and seeing how they added another RB and TE to the mix, doing a quick one.
How to deal w/RT, don't draft in the first, find someone w/33'+ arms(Jenkins imo isn't playing RT let alone LT b/c his arms are 32" preferably 34.
Find DT that can penetrate and DE and #2 CB, after that depth at DL and WR. Possibly depth at OL.
No RB or TE until day 3.
Small trade back w/Houston 9 64 and 149 for 12 33 and 187
12) Myles Murphy EDGE Went w/an Edge, could have been Van Nesse, or Smith or Murphy, doesn't matter all are playing Day 1 w/their own positive and negative traits. Murphy is a physical freak but needs to work on technique as everyone in the NFL are physical freaks.
33) Adetomiwa Adebawore DT This is why I made the trade back, odds are w/the way he's projecting he's there in the 50's, some think he could go late in the first already. This also opens up avenues later.
54) Matthew Bergeron OT Scores as an eventual + starter and RT. Poles keeps his favorite draft toy at LT and the Bears get a legit day RT starter. Of the 2nd round guys longest arms at 33 3/4's; he's now the 3rd starting OT w/arms under 34. Great athlete capable of pass, rush and getting into LB's down field. minus the arms this is the RT archtype Poles wants.
61) Joe Tippman C 54/61 back to back OL picks is what I was talking about how trading back and getting Ade Ade opened things up. Whitehair is now the june 1st cut we all thought he'd be. This is a day 1 starting OC for Fields long term.
103) Jartavius Martin CB Last time I took a CB as the 3rd pick, but Martin scores out essentially the same as Stevenson, and I got a day 1 C and FA cap savings out of it. Can play CB nickle or S. Won't be the guy opposite JJohnson Poles will have to find that guy after June 1 cuts, or as teams cut down to 53. But here is a clear upgrade to the DB room and a move on from the scrubs
133) Davis Allen TE 50/50 jump ball guy that wins more then he loses. Needs to improve all around, but won't have to be expected to do much yr 1.
137) Andrei Iosivas WR WR depth and ST guy. The Bears have what they like this year as starters, if it doesn't work out they can deal w/that next year; but depth is still an issue and Iosivas can help there now and in the coming years. Another big 50-50 guy.
Another assistance in the WR room; but with far more upside. If Bell fully recovers from his acl this could be your WR 3 before you know it, and in the coming years WR2. If not he's still solid depth and far better then they have.
219) DJ Johnson DE All the tools and size you need inexperienced and needs a lot of work, but if they can coax it out of him he has all the tools to be a starter in the NFL.
Love it.
