Imo it looks and feels like the OC has no confidence in Fields. He wasn't very accurate today and missed open people while forcing it to multi covered ones. He's just not very good. I think he should be benched, and then put out Simian. If he gets better results with same talent then we know where the problem lies.
Well, Fields has 13 games to turn it around. Cause I'm not sure Poles will keep him if he doesn't improve by the end of the season.

Thats what bothers me, b/c the OL isn't anywhere near fixed, they can run block, but their pass pro is ass, and a new QB will look just like Fields and Mitch if they draft one and don't put real resources to fix the OL and the WR position. Fix the issues in front of the qb before you try and fix the QB, or you end up ruining the qb.

+1 And it is up to Poles/Eberflus to show that THEY know how to build an offense here in Chicago. We all have talked about how they get a "pass" for 2022. But that pass should have an expiration date if we don't see SOME evidence - something, anything - that indicates they know their a$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to building an offense. It was mighty weak sauce this first off-season with the roster building of the offense... and I totally "get it" they didn't have the draft resources or $$$ in cap space to do what needed done. Totally get that. But at some point we need to see something better than what we see now.

At some point you have to point at the QB. Yes, the pass blocking isn’t elite, he’ll it’s not even good, BUT, what o line can protect for 4-6 seconds on almost every drop back? I’d love to see stats for the NFL QB’s this year on time-to-release. I’m betting Fields is dead last. He simply can’t continue to hold the ball all damn day. I think he thinks he’s still at OSU where he legitimately had 5-7 seconds to pass the ball on every damn snap.
I know he hasn’t been QB for a whole seasons worth of games yet, but so far he’s been a huge disappointment. This is a guy who was elite at the college level, and we just aren’t seeing it yet in the NFL. Hope he turn the corner soon or we’re back to square 1 on a QB search…

I'm not disagreeing, he holds, and always had, the ball way to long. It the read deep first mentality that he has, but it doesn't work in the NFL for an obvious reason, this isn't college football, and even if you are on the best team, most OL cannot hold up that long.

The OL is certainly serviceable for any decent qb. The qb is just bad and no amount of additional talent is going to make him good. Fields has to play better or he has no future in this league.

Same old stuff. Different season. Weak offense.
I know the season just started, but I expect to see some improvement by the end of the season, and in 2023 I want the Bears to be running on all cylinders on offense and defense. They will have the means to improve it next season.

Serviceable for what? the run; we agree, serviceable, but you don't put young qb's w/no weapons behind a serviceable run blocking OL, for pass pro, they are ass.
And I'm not defending Fields, he has his own issues and doesn't help the OL; just like Cutler, he spends his few sec's down there looking for a big play while missing multiple smaller plays.

Just got back from the game.
Sorry, I gotta disagree with you. The OL was fine today in pass pro. It really hasn't been bad all season.
Justin Fields missed a whole bunch of open throws today (from the "All-22" view in the stands). By "missed", I mean was inaccurate, way late with the ball, and didn't even see open receivers.
Justin Fields was just plain awful today. I'm done with benefits of the doubt with him. He's gotta step things up dramatically the next 14 games or Poles needs to get a Plan B together.
Justin Fields was outplayed today--outplayed by a large margin--by Davis freakin' Mills.

That is what bothers me the most. Davis freakin' Mills outplayed Justin Fields.
If the running game was able to perform well, then there is something wrong with the QB. I'm sorry but Fields has to get better. He has to lift the team up. He has to be a true leader.
