The offense should get a big break in this one. Texans are one of the worst pass defenses in the entire NFL (27th). Whatcha expecting in this one?
LINK Matt Eberflus needs to find answers on Fields soon.
The young quarterback has looked out of sorts too often thus far. The head coach made it clear this wasn’t unexpected. It’s been two weeks in a brand new offense. Both of them came against Super Bowl-caliber defenses. Expecting him to play like a top-tier starter was never realistic. Eberflus remains confident things can and should get better with more time. Quarterbacks tend to improve as they get more comfortable in an offensive system.
That is reasonable. The Bears’ schedule appears to ease up a little bit next week against the 0-1-1 Houston Texans. Their defense has struggled this season, ranking 27th against the pass. Fields will be at home and likely not playing in a torrential downpour. Everything should be in place for him to play better. Matt Eberflus and the coaches will probably have plans in place to help him do so.

Amen on the article.
Loosen the reins on Fields and let him get some confidence. If there ever was a "get right game", this is it. Houston is one of the worst teams in the NFL, probably heading for a top-3 pick. Call a balanced game and let Fields throw some passes.

I am looking forward to a win. Against the 27th ranked passing defense, I’d like to see 20+ passes and 200+ yards from Fields. What would you like to see from him (minimum)?

If he can't put up 220+ we should be worried. I want to see some quick slants also. Feel like haven't seen them yet and Mooney or Jones should excel at those.

+1 And one other thought is that Fields (to some extent) faces the Lovie Smith type defense when he practices against the Bears defense. He should be pretty comfortable reading the D on Sunday against the Texans. He needs his pass-protection to be better in this game.

Completely agree with you, David. Was gonna post similar numbers and did in another thread.
Give me 20 recs, 200 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
You know....what most NFL QBs would consider a modestly respectable stat line. Not asking for the Greatest Show on Turf here.
I think the offense will have a much better showing than the last two outings. They're first two games were against top ten units so having mixed results isn't that disheartening when you think about it.
San Fran's defense is currently ranked number 3 but our guys were able to come back and score nineteen unanswered point to take the win. The 49ers offense struggling game one due to the weather and Trey Lances inexperience worked out in our favor.
PukeGreen Bay was different story. As of this week, its D is at eight. The combination of a division rival who faces the good guys twice a year and knows the team; having a Hall of Fame QB and a D in the top ten proved to be a tall order Sun.
Hous is near the bottom at nineteen and I think Fields will have a field day (no pun intended) running all over them like Hulkamania leaving their unit wondering what they're going to do?
