If we can get Mike McCoy here I won't mind so much if Fox is here.
I don't know if we should just throw our high pick at a QB when we have talent like Garrett and Allen to be taken. We could always pick up Tony Romo for 2-3 years and pick a QB in the second to learn behind him.
Tony Romo is 37 and another back injury away from being a cripple. Some of that is hyperbole...but not that far off. I want no part of Tony Romo...we may as well just keep Cutler. Romo will not come cheap, and he will most likely want to play for a legit contender. I'll pass.
Romo is going to work w/Jerry and other teams to look into a potential trade. He'll have a say where he goes and I cannot imagine he'd want to come to Chicago; the turf, the overall lack of talent top to bottom and the lack of recent success would made him steer very wide from the Chi
Just shuffling in some new guy may or may not make us better. I would hope we can keep Vic Fangio. Some posters seem to think you just shake any tree and a Vic Fangio drops into your lap. I think he is a very special asset... possibly the #1 asset the team has right now (and that's including players and coaches). I'd rather not go back to the 50+ point blowouts any time soon.
I agree JABF. Thats why if they shit can Fox I'd just as soon rather them take a chance and make Fangio HC. Move Donatell to the DC spot and keep rolling with what we've got going on the defensive side of the ball. Fangio and Donatell have been together long enough you'd think by now he'd be able to run Fangio's defense.
One positive outcome of that scenario is that we could probably attract a solid offensive coordinator. Bringing in a top-tier coordinator is a 2-way street. They have to find this Bears OC job attractive enough to choose it over other team's that want them too. I would think it would be very attractive to come to a team with a solid young defense coming together, and some nice young building block pieces on offense too. This team isn't too far off from being a good one. I think the 3rd Pace draft and free agency will put us in a VERY good position talent-wise.
Of course the biggie for an incoming OC is the QB position. That is a glaring "unknown" right now. But I am not buying into the manic panic about how we have to fire everybody - and the McCaskey's have to sell the entire franchise - before we can see a solid Bears team again. I don't buy into the hysteria. I just don't see it.

Yeah, whether we like it or not this is a business too. I just don't see the McCaskey's paying two coaches and coaching staffs to not coach. That just doesn't seem feasible. I also don't think Fox is here for the long term though. I think he's here to get the team to a better place and then you may see what happened in Carolina and Denver happen here.
I'd rather take a guy like Kaaya or Faulk over Mayfield. But the few games I've seen him in he does look like a nice prospect.
What gets me is his attitude , his fire , cuz he plays with real passion , is smart as hell and has one of those quick releases that surprises people . He's one of those gutsy ball players that just finds ways to win games .
I'd still rather have a guy like Kizer or Mitch, but if the Bears decided to go w/a surefire stud at DE, or backuped up and got a multiple 1s this year and the future as well as multiple mid round picks this year, I wouldn't hate it if they ended up w/a guy like Mayfield.

I questions CBS's as it has Waston ahead of Kizer and doesn't have Falk or Mayfield on the first page.

It was only after the last two weeks of High Profile Suspensions that I thought John Fox had a serious shot of being canned. The McCaskey's hate that kind of unnecessary embarrassment.
Realistically speaking...Fox will keep his job, but will offer up Cutler and Loggains as his sacrificial lambs. With Norv Turner already on his couch today and Mike McCoy not far from joining him...the OC market this winter may be pretty solid.
Spend our high pick on a new QB and try this all again next September.
(At least this season proved there is no longer any Unbeatable Juggernaut in the NFC North)
If we could bring in a stellar OC, and keep Vic Fangio as DC, I don't think it matters THAT much if Fox stays another year. Let Pace add another draft and FA class and get our players back healthy - we could be a surprisingly good team. The worst that can happen is we have to listen to Fox's press conferences with him describing "owies" and meaningless stuff. Who cares if we are winning?
Maybe Fox could be retired and promote one of the coordinators at that point.
Agree 100%. This was a better team, with less talent, last year when we had a competent OC in place.

Yeah ... when u c Wes Lunt on there b4 - but they must be underclassmen cuz they're ranked high in the projected 2018 draft .
