That means the Giants could be the last game of the Jay Cutler era.
As much as I think its going to be harder next year with a rookie QB running the show, I'm more than a little relieved. I also understand soul's argument that they shouldn't move on from Cutler until they have the replacement. But I also have to factor in the getting better argument. If you believe you can do better than Cutler you have to move on from him. Cut the chord and get moving. I'm NOT one of those guys who thinks its easy to find a starting QB (I don't believe in drafting a QB later than day 2, and UDFA's never work out--Romo/Warner prove the rule since they are the ONLY ONES you can name out of the more than 300 UDFA that are draft eligible every year.) But if you don't try, you are stuck with what isn't working.
As many of us believe, I also believe we can do better than Cutler. That part of the equation is easiest. However, just because I think we CAN do better than Cutler does not mean I think we WILL do better than Cutler. Hence my argument that you keep him until you know you at least have parity.

Its not easy, I'm not one of those posters throwing around "Dump Jay, he suks!!!" But I would still cut him loose. My opinion, one coming from a JR High teacher, not a football professional.
And that is why Pace makes more $$$ than I do. Its his decision, the most important one he will make. Its his Rubicon. Make a great decision, he can hang out with Theo and never buy a drink again. Make the wrong decision, he's sitting next to JA and Emery at a dive bar in Florida knocking back shots.
At this point it won't be difficult to match cutlers performances w/a high potential college qb; not a 3rd or later qb mind you. But any of the top QB's in the draft shouldn't have a real issue matching a QB that in 139 games has 146 int's and 88 fumbles(234 turn overs), ya 217 td's but neither are enough, and you definitely cannot have a qb that is more likely to turn the ball over as he is score.
If the next qb in the next 4 years merely has more TD's then TO's he'll have done better then Cutler, that is quite honestly the lowest bar you can set.

Just from a logical point of view, I would want to agree with you, but I know better. As shitty as Jay has been, it will not be easy to match, much less be better than he is. But we HAVE to try. We can't be frozen in time being scared of getting someone worse. That definitely might happen, but we for sure won't get anyone better unless we try.

If they get rid of Cutler only to end up with Cutler 2.0 than it was a wasted draft pick. The whole point isn't to find another Cutler, its to find a better QB. And it will not be easy to find another Cuter. Just go to profootball-reference.com and look up QBs taken in the draft against QBs who lasted as long as Cutler. Pace will need lots of luck.

Like any profession have to try to succeed rather then stick w/what hasn't.

Yep, which is why I'd cut/trade Cutler as soon as the season was over.
