Who do you want as the next Bears head coach?

I've already posted my thoughts on this before.

If we expect to keep Fangio and the defense progressing as it has then we let Fox go in January and offer Fangio the job filling out the last two years of Fox's deal.  When asked if he'd ever consider a HC post he said he didn't know because he'd never been offered one. 

So offer it and see what he says.  It's a 50/50 deal but he may accept because he'd still have Ed Donatell to actually run the defense a his DC and keep it progressing along the same lines he has. Then the key becomes finding an OC to come in for two years.

I suggested Norv Turner because he'll be looking for a spot to land and may take on the challenge even under a two year deal.  If these guys can flip this team around and they compete next year to the point of making the playoffs with an arrow up we can always extend their deals beyond two years. It's somewhat the same kind of prove yourself deals we hand out to players before signing them to longer term ones.

If Fangio declines then we can look elsewhere but I sure would love to see them talk with Dave Toub about it.  He's always been top notch handling the turnover on his STeams and as a former OL himself and OL coach he has at least some background on that side of the ball.  The key there might be getting him to accept keeping the defensive staff intact but finding a younger more progressive OC and also determining what he wants to do at QB.  He might be as good a judge of whether Cutler stays or goes as anyone.

If you have to go to a high school type rah-rah coach who has to yell at professional NFL players to "motivate" them - as if they are in high school - then that's a problem.  Not an asset.  I'd rather have a brilliant coach who knows his ass from a hole in the ground.  Coaching isn't about yelling like a lunatic.  That's just a buffoon coach (Singletary comes to mind... dropping his pants in the locker room and showing off his hairy ass to players... how'd that work out?).
