Ric, you want to hold that injury against him? That would have happened to Marty too being in that same spot. That injury is bad luck and nothing because of his recent Problems.
It funny...."being hurt" was the excuse the Marty-apologists made for him loafing, whining, and generally sucking ass last season. This year he's having better production (500 yards/4 TDs when he had only 2 ALL LAST SEASON) but also has the luxury of a GOAT QB throwing to him and the #1 TE (Gronk) being out much of the year.
Dont get me wrong, I think we should have made him play out his contract year and then made a final decision, but let's not kid ourselves that he would be lighting it up or making a difference if we had kept him here this season. With this dumpster fire, he probably would have been a mess mouthing off to the press and gone soon anyway.

I don't want to go to deep into the Bennett discussion. I was happy to get rid of his Person, I'd love to have the Player skills back. I think he is plain and simple stupid and was a pain in the ass in his last year. Miller looked good until he got his leg broken. It sucks for sure and this wasn't because he is made of glass and injury prone. That's the Point.
German, but if it wasn't getting stepped on, it was going to be something else b/c it ALWAYS happens to him. He's never played a full season since his rookie year. The idea that you would go into a season w/a starter that hasn't played a full season, basically ever, is short sighted and foolish.
btw I don't care if someone isn't smart, or acts a fool; if he's not doing anything illegal and can play. Bennett can play and while he talks a lot, talk never hurt anyone(except the delicate flowers currently burning down cities and going to therapy instead of college).
Kruetz acted a fool also, broke a teammates jaw, people loved him. Briggs was a fool, drank drove wrecked his car and fled, people loved him; shit they still love him even after he quit on the team while still on the team. All those guys should have spent time in jail. I'll take the stupid talk of Bennett, who wasn't a problem in the locker room based on guys that have been in the locker room.
Delicate flowers hah hah ha - hilarious . The We All Get A Trophy Generation doesn't know how to handle a real world 'loss' so it's time for therapy dogs and Play-Doh and cry ins and cancelled exams . Someone forgot to tell them that mommy and daddy weren't always gonna be able to control every outcome ... sniffle sniffle sniff sniff .

you assume he would have broken something all by himself?
I say without that Freak injury, he would have played in all of the remaining games. Who is right now? Bascially, nobody because we will never know it. All I know is that this would have happened to other Players as well.

History says he doesn't play all 16 games. And this is just another year where he's not there to help his team b/c this is just another year where he got hurt and WILL miss time. There is no "who knows" b/c it DID happen. This is why you don't go into the season w/him being the only thing that resembles a TE on this team.

you said it would have happened anyway. I call that BS. This was bad luck and would have happened to your beloved Bennett to. Not to mention that Bennett missed 7 games last year due to injury.
Bennett has played 5 16 game seasons, 2 more 14 game seasons in 9 seasons.
Miller has played in 0 16 game seasons and 3 14 or more seasons in 8 seasons.
See the difference? Btw Bennett has been playing through another injury, last year ribs, this year ankle. So when he is injured he's normally still available.
Wasn't the board knocking Bennett for being injured last season as a reason why he had to go? But Miller was going to replace him....
He didn't play well, while playing w/a rib injury...how dare he. People also put an undo amount of the "drops" on him when it really was poorly placed balls on his back shoulder where the defender was easily able to defend it. Bennett last year was credited w/2 drops.
Miller was supposed to replace him b/c he was so much better as a receiver(who needs a TE that can block right?), and this year he didn't show that. People forgot about the previous year when he caught 90 out of 129 targets and averaged 10+ypc for almost 1k yards, or the year before when he was also lighting it up. And you see his ability this year w/a real qb throwing him the ball, not near as often, he's again lighting it up.
Lets not forget, Marty was here w/Marshal and AJ and Forte, and then AJ and and Forte. There were a lot more options to throw to back then. Miller was the #2 target most of the year, and should have clearly outpaced Marty.
