If you are listening to 670 they are not happy about Miller getting hurt, but also they are saying what I said, the guy has never stayed healthy, and that was the #1 reason to keep Marty.
Said Marty was different but not a distraction ala Marshal; and that you cannot have a locker room full of choir boys and some guys are going to be different, and coaches have to be able to coach those players b/c those players are sometimes really good. Hence why NE is trying to re sign him.
Kind of echo's my thoughts on the matter. They let a very good two way tight go because he was different, and quirky, and the coach didn't want to deal with his personality. Well that guy, had the coach met him half way, could have helped you win games. This isn't 1965 anymore...Fox better figure out how to coach today's player or he's not gonna find another job after this one...which may not happen anyway.
I was all for the hiring of Fox. I have to admit I was wrong on that one. The injuries have not helped, but this has been pretty bad. What I will say is unlike Trestman the team still plays hard for him. I don't think he's the only issue with this team, but he is certainly one of them.
ya you heard it. Miller, is out. Sucks for him, but this is par for the course for him, guy has never been able to stay healthy
He has his foot stepped on by JPP (gotta wonder if that was just an "accident") and right away you want to play the injury prone card huh? The minute I read about this I knew you wouldn't be able to resist bringing this up. That's how predictable you are. LOL
I know you have daily erections over Marty B but I think Miller has proven to be a very good receiving TE and to also have put the injuries of the past behind him. Getting your foot stomped on doesn't jive with injury prone any more than Lasike rolling up on Long's angle makes him injury prone despite his also having a labrum injury. Miller's issue with that ended last year when it was Marty who ended the season on the IR, not Miller.
I guess our debate over which we prefer ends for the season but based on their current stats Miller had pretty close to caught up with Marty who had 1 catch for all of 14 yards yesterday and with Gronk being out he has been their #1 TE too. So Marty has 518 yds and 4 tds vs Miller who has 488 yds and 4 tds (that was a nice one yesterday wasn't it?). If he hadn't gone out injured he might have actually surpassed him.
So all of 30 yards separate them after 10 games. 3 yds per game on average and Marty has been playing for a far better offensive team. I know you won't want to call that parity but I do and I think most would agree. In fact, let's ask them what they think.
Who else thinks we shafted our entire offense by trading away Marty B?

Sucks for him, he had a decent game. We really need to draft a TE next time.
At least now we'll see how good or bad Braunecker is. Paulsen sucks btw.
That's the only silver lining in this cloud but it does give him a shot at proving whether ot not we actually do need to spend a high pick on a TE. He may surprise us.

So what your saying is that w/less oppertunities to actually get passes and make plays he is still better then Miller, gotcha.

And yet it was Marty who was nursing injuries much of last year and ended up on the IR thereby giving Miller his shot to beat him out for the starting spot.....and he did.
Don't you think his malingering and lack of production may also have had something to do with why he was traded and it wasn't just his attitude and pouting over not getting used the way he liked. He made a big issue over his contract all spring and stayed out of the voluntary OTAs which is fine. They're voluntary for a reason.
But then comes the regular season and he doesn't produce like he did the previous year when he was looking to renegotiate. He plays a little lazy, struggles to stay on the field due to minor injuries, and eventually pouts over not being used. It wasn't just one thing Ric it was a collection of them and if those guys on The Score don't know that too then they aren't as hip to the team as they pretend to be. The facts are the fact.
We also signed Zack Miller for 2 years for what Marty would have made for one, are getting roughly equal production from him compared to Marty, an unlike NE don't have to worry about any 2017 contract negotiations or whatever other black unicorn weirdness he wants to throw at them. They haven't re-signed him yet so let's see how that goes.
I'm all for expressing opinions and radio guys get paid to do just that but does anyone ever use facts to back them up any longer or is it just shoot from the hip in this era?

Less opportunities? I don't run the NE offense Ric so the only one who can control how often Marty gets targeted is Brady or Josh McDaniels. He's been the #1 TE in 7 of 10 games this year so maybe he's just less dependable and that's why he's thrown to less.
I do believe that I've made that same point about him before and it's entirely possible they've noticed in in NE as well. Marty tends to free lance and not finishes his routes or adjust them on the fly which I watched cause two picks early last season.
All I'm saying is that Zach Miller has been a effective a receiver in this offense as Bennett has been in New England's and also as effective or more so as Marty was the last time he dressed for a game here. That's really all that counts because if Zach Miller was playing with Tom Brady his stats might be different as well.
So we can only compare their effectiveness to each team individually and to this point I'd call it parity. You however can call it what ever you like and I know you will. If you or anyone else can prove to me by these stats that somehow we lost a major contribution to our offense and scoring by trading Bennett I'll listen but I don't think anyone can. Brandon Marshall yes but Marty B no. Miller has very effectively replaced him....or at least he did. Now Braunecker will get his shot at it.
