Well ... in light of ALL these many picks of QB's as we've had over the years I can understand ur trepidation ... NOT !!!! We don't draft QB's , but it's high time we started . We could have just as many " misses " with other positions also but that doesn't stop us from drafting them . Besides at this point what is there to lose ? F IT !! Time to start drafting QB's ( and keep doing it till we get it right ) .
I think I'm being misinterpreted here. I'm not opposed to drafting QBs just opposed to spending a top five or ten pick on one until we fix the OL that keeps getting the ones we did have ending up on a surgeons table. Spend the higher picks on those guys or no QB will even do as well as Cutler. We can use later picks on a QB for now.
What frustrates me to no end, is that we failed to have a young QB in the pipeline before this year. And I'm not talking about a dumpster-diving wannabe like Barkley or Fales. At the very least a 2nd round or 3rd rounder. Invest in the position. It is arguably the #1 most important position on an NFL team. Why on earth would you NOT have a young kid in the pipeline (like the Patriots do)?
The OL isn't that far off right now, but yes, it does still need some upgrading at RT and depth quality. You don't need a #1 pick for RT. And at some point Leno needs to be upgraded at LT. But Leno could get us by until that 2018 draft, IMHO. Teams have worse LT's than Leno... he's not total crap, but not very good either. Somewhere in the middle.
I would prioritize the OL over the DEF at this point. Get better tackles, get a better OFF. The interior is set Whitehair barring injury looks to get better, Long/Sitton are Pro-Bowlers. Leno is average, he could be improved upon, Massie is average at best and could also be improved upon. The OFF will look better for whoever is QB next year if the tackles are better.

In a dream world, I would like to see Leno as our backup swing tackle. He may not be a great starter, but he'd be very decent backup material. Certainly better than that Adams guy we have now.
I still have hope that Grasu will be a solid interior lineman for us. I really think he will be a solid starter for us at some point... but in the meantime he could be solid depth. Sitton will be 31 next year. It's not too old for a good OL, but he is getting up there in age and high body-mileage. Worst case we have a solid guy in Grasu to backup Sitton, Whitehair or Long if any of them go down.
So you could have Leno as backup swing tackle and Grasu as the backup interior lineman. We would be so much better equipped when injuries hit our OL then.

Adams is just a depth guy. Just not very good
Well he's playing out of position. He should be 3rd string water boy.
I hate to be the negative in what is supposed to be a positive thread but.....
"In fact, according to evaluations by Football Outsiders, the Bears are 29th in the 32-team NFL in drafts from 2011 to 2015.
Worst on the list is the Giants with Pace's old team the Saints checking in at 31 (gulp) and the Lions are 29. It takes years to evaluate a draft, but you start to figure out what you have by the third year."
This is NOT a good thing. The two teams that Pace he had a hand in drafting for the last 5 years are both in the bottom 3? Speechless.
