And....you playing the receiving TE instead of the blocking one. Nice TD catch by Horstead. Again, I don't want my receiving TEs blocking, I can use Bars for that.

Scattered thoughts:
- Defense played great. You can debate how much was on them or the Raiders just being out of sync. Given all the pressure though I think the Bears had a lot to do with that. Carr is a good QB but his weakness has always been having to make plays off script.
- Nice to see the OL performing better. It's amazing how much better an offense can be when player's execute their assignments.
- I was worried what our rushing would be like without Montgomery. But Williams and Herbert did a solid job and had some good runs.
- I'm still not entirely convinced this offense wouldn't work better with Dalton. Fields may eventually be the better player but he continues to be slow on his reads, late on his throws, and hangs onto the play too long. He appears to be improving but that could just be playing bad defenses (or at least defenses not as good as Cleveland's).
I think the defensive secondary is still a big problem. They were bailed out today by the front-7 and the Raiders receivers dropping passes and Carr making poor passes to open receivers. This game could have been a lot closer. Sorry to rain on the parade here.
Remember we gave up Fuller for a guy who played 1 1/2 games...

I pretty much agree with that, but regarding Fields and this offense versus Dalton, obviously Fields is starting now - not because he is significantly better than Dalton right now, but rather he is starting due to the Bears investing this season in Fields development. He is the future of the franchise and Dalton isn't. Once the Bears moved up to draft Fields that was the death knell for Dalton here.
I just finished watching the game (a recording of it) and Fields is improving, albeit incrementally. But you are right in that he needs to continue to improve various aspects of his game. Would Dalton have looked better yesterday? Maybe. I don't know. But I don't think he would have been significantly better - if at all. But Dalton was never going to be anything more than a temp worker here. My personal hope is that we will see Fields make continued improvement in these 12 remaining games and then go into next season a strong QB for us at that point. Dalton isn't part of the future at this point so let's invest in Fields. I think that will be a wise investment.
That game was a physical war yesterday. It was playoff intensity. Just viscous hitting and some nastiness too. The Bears came out the alpha dog in the fight... it reminded me a bit of some of the better Bears teams of the distant past. I liked watching the game a lot. It wasn't pretty football. It wasn't one of these high scoring games we see nowadays. It was an old school alley fight. I liked it. I liked it a lot.
