I know people like to give credit to the offense for looking good but were they good?
The average NFL team scores around 24.7 points per game. Us scoring 20 points makes us below average in that field. It took this defense ( even with horrible penalties ) to hold this team to just 9 points.
I was half expecting a win. I believe in Sean Desai; I know he saw what Brandon Staley did with that LA D, with a similar Fangio D, and applied that to make sure the D would play big. I gave my vote to Mack, though. From all accounts, Mack is playing banged up. I wouldn't believe it with the effort he played with today. We must give the Mack Truck credit vs. the Raiders organization that thought they were better without him - regardless of what you thought of the trade from their perspective. You know the player wants revenge.
Edit:
I really wanted to give Fields the game ball though. All the credit to the kid for this throw.
No question and I said that in the shout box during the game. Fields stats were very pedestrian and he did nothing spectacular but that one play was super clutch.
If that 3rd and 12 isn't converted--and it was a tough throw into a defense stacked up at the line to gain--Bears probably lose the game. Raiders would have got the ball back with plenty of time and the D had to have been gassed at that point having just come off the field after an 18 play possession.
3 key 4thQ plays cemented the win: 1) That key 3rd & 12 conversion 2) Mack's sack preventing the 2-pt conversion to make it a FG game and 3) Santos nailing a 47 yarder to make it an 8 point game.

Who said this defense was washed up again?
No, the offense isn't good and still has a long way to go. They did just enough today--mostly on the ground--to win with a defense shutting down the opponent. Bears got the win but not a long term recipe for success to score only 2 TDs. We have had only 1 game this year yet where the O scored more than 2 TDs. Lotta work yet to be done for sure.
As far as the D goes, Desai deserves a lot of credit. Since week 1 they have played really well despite an offense that sputters for large stretches. I'm amazed the secondary is holding up as good as it has and the pass rush has found new life.
I think the defensive secondary is still a big problem. They were bailed out today by the front-7 and the Raiders receivers dropping passes and Carr making poor passes to open receivers. This game could have been a lot closer. Sorry to rain on the parade here.

It couldve been. Also, it couldve been decided way earlier, at the start of 3rd if O played just a tad better. In fact, if not of that stupid roughing penalty Raiders would never score... See, it goes both ways. In almost every game.

Exactly. Its taken me some time, and I'm not perfect bc I'm sure I'll be caught doing it, but I've learned to stop complaining/talking about the "could haves" or talking about bad calls.
All we should concern ourselves about is the plays that were made, plus the team needs to play good enough that the refs don't decide the game.

Yep. If the offense hadn't sucked most of the 2nd half, that game could have been put away in the 3rd Q.
Crazy weekend. I was at a wedding in the Chicago area. It was a beautiful wedding and my wife and I were grateful that we were invited. It meant a lot to us. But, LOL, who has a Chicago wedding at 3pm when the Bears play at 3pm? I still have not seen the game. But I just got back home and I did record the game so I can watch it tonight. I actually live a few hours south of Chicago, in Bloomington, IL.
It was so funny at the wedding... the guys were all asking for updates on the Bears score. The phones were all out until the actual wedding vows - then they quickly all re-appeared.
