The Bears have 7th ranked defense and 30th ranked offense in NFL. The much disparity can cause bad chemistry in the locker room. Nagy seems pretty good at that aspect of coaching in the wake of the Cleveland debacle.
This ^^^ has been the story for most of the last decade.
Us fans have been waiting a long, long time for the team to field a decent NFL offense. I think the best we have been in the Nagy-era is 21st.
I do not think that trait alone is enough to save Nagy's job. But some coaches would have lost the locker room due to "finger pointing" after that Cleveland game. The offense in that game was not just bad. It was epic bad. Nagy did the right thing by accepting criticism and making changes.
I see that the Bears lead the NFL in team sacks, and it is going to get even better if Hicks ever comes back healthy. That will help some with our pathetic secondary, but they are still going to get burned by any team with a good passing offense. Even yesterday, that was obvious.

Yeah there's still a long way to go to become a complete team and true contender.
Bears need at least one more good boundary CB. That would allow Vildor to move to nickel. Prob a safety too.
TE is still a dumpster fire. Yeash, Jesper Horstead may be the best receiving option we have there.
WR is thin, especially is ARob is gone next year. No one has stepped up to be a solid #3
Pass pro hasn't been good (run blocking has). I'm still holding out hope that getting Borom and Jenkins back will help here
Bears had a nice road win yesterday against a middling opponent but 20 pts and 250 yards of offense isn't gonna win games long-term.
