Was going to cite this exact info. The TE unit has a blazing 9 catches on 18 targets (for a whopping 70 yards) w/ 25% of the season on the books. That is probably dead last in the league.
Remember when we were told that Nagy's offense required solid TE play? Another excuse.
How angry would you be if you were Pace right now?

QB guru is a QB killer.
QB whisperer should be quieter than a whisper.
If I was Pace I wouldn't be pissed at all. I would have fired NAGY long ago.
The only place NAGY will ever work again is back in the arena league. Or the CFL. Maybe Trestman would hire him.

I try to understand the logic behind Nagy's decisions on offense spanning these years. Even watching a bad coach you can usually "see" what a coach is trying to do, even when the coach is failing. But with Nagy, it just seems like a random string of illogical stuff. We see the product on the field on gamedays and it just looks so weak.
Looking back over the Nagy years you realize we were bamboozled. We initially thought the man was a genius. We were told his playbook was so advanced it took years for players to fully learn. Well. It's been years now and it still looks like utter crap when Nagy is calling the plays.
LOL, when Nagy first came here we talked about the man like he was this brilliant mastermind behind Mahomes and the vaunted Kansas City offense. LOL, now we see that Andy Reid was the O guy there. But we all got excited initially with the Nagy hire just waiting with excitement to see the powerhouse offense come to Chicago.

Then this.
Holy cow. We were idiots.
It seemed that in his first year that the only advantage that gave Nagy success is that the leage didn't jave a measure of him. Mitch was moving all around and looking solid. Then, he was easily solved and regressed somehow.
It's mind boggling. Let's not repeat this one next year.

I know it'll be unpopular opinion, but we take about Fields being a rookie and making mistakes. Nagy isn't a rookie HC, but still very inexperienced with it. He may still be in that learning curve and seeing that the O did better last year with Lazor and now this game the O looked that much better... maybe Nagy is learning that he can't do it all himself even if he wanted to? Becoming a leader comes with being the decision maker, not the guy standing in the front doing it all himself.
If the Bears somehow sneak in, that would be 3 out of 4 times Playoffs for Nagy. Do you really fire a coach like that? Would you consider the team being much better and being held back by the coach?

I do believe that when you hire a first time head coach that a learning curve comes with that decision. I agree with you. But I think the key is to see if the coach is, in fact, learning. Is he getting better over the years? Or is he still struggling? Nagy definitely could show progress this year if he would do what you are saying. Don't micro-manage the team. Let the coordinators do their jobs. And Nagy concentrate on the HC job. Let's just watch how the season unfolds now. It is still early and we could see Fields and this offense surprise some people in a good way.
Just stumbling into the playoffs with an 8-win season and a 1-and-done wildcard game, doesn't mean anything to me personally though. We fired a guy who won multiple division championships, an NFL conference championship, got us to a Super Bowl, had a 10-win season when fired. And was just 1 season from having taken us to the NFC Conference Championship game. Lovie Smith. Bears let him go to get BETTER. And to me, 8 win seasons and one-and-done playoff appearances is not getting better.
But let's see what happens this season. If we do get better and Nagy finally shows some promise, then I am A-okay keeping him. But he has to show some hard evidence of getting better. The 8 win thing does nothing for me.

We got rid of our starting qb who led us into the playoffs in spite of Nagy, so yea I’d still fire him. If Nagy was as good as we were all led to believe, perhaps Trubs would have really developed into something special and we wouldn’t have had to burn draft choices for Fields. We’ll never know, but IMO Nagy has to go.

I'm not saying keep Nagy or that I even like him, but he could still learn. He could improve as HC and I don't see them firing him with a winning record and POs. He'll get fired with a losing record, that's for sure. I'm just saying that he could learn and stop being this stubborn with his playcalling. He is the HC, he has to overlook the whole roster. A roster he hasn't lost, just shitty playcalling. All while it looks the OC can do it better - which may be the big problem here for him.

Those are some good points. With him focusing on HC and Lazor on OC, the outcome could be much much better this season. I'm just going to hunker down and watch the season play out. Could be much better now. I hope so.
