1) MP tightly covered has been an issue for 2 years, glad you are just catching up. It doesn't mean you cannot throw it or complete it. 1 passing yard is a problem, and it's not just the OL.
2) Ya well I'd rather lose where at least there was the option to possibly win instead of like this, where the team couldn't move the ball. You, the entire bears nation, even I bitched all last year about the O not being able to move the ball. THIS WAS WORSE, it was the 3rd worst Nagy O ever, and only bc they got 2 fg's, in actual yards it was by far his worst, it was historically bad, even for the Bears. The OL has been a problem w/the Bears in the past, incompetent coaches have been a problem in the past, they've all had to face great defenses in the past; and NONE had 1 net passing yard.
I don't know what you're arguing about--that the awful performance today was more than just the OL? Yeah, no shit. We all know that. Said that in my very first post in this thread. But the title and purpose of this thread is to assign a "deflated ball" and saying "it was everyone" is kind of a copout to me.
I picked the OL as most at fault in my book and I stand by that. It's very difficult to judge anything else when your OL is roadkill virtually every snap. They didn't look like that the first two games and please don't tell me that was all because Dalton is faster than greased lightening--he isn't.
Bottom line:
The primary and most egregious reason the Bears lost today was that the OL couldn't block a high school cheerleader squad.
The reasons why the offense has sucked balls for years are far more complex. All of that--coaches and players--falls 100% on Ryan Pace.
The WR's haven't had separation in over a year, Tru, Foles, Dalton all found a way to gain more then 1 passing yard.
The OL has been bad for years, it's why they replaced both OT's, Tru, Foles, Dalton all found a way to get more then 50 yards of total O.
The playcalling has been a problem for 3 years, the above all found a way to make it work.
Nagy, the O, the WR's have been a problem in the very recent past(up to weeks 1 and 2), and the O wasn't shut down like this, and in week 1 it was against a better and more complete Def.
So while that shitshow was mostly on Nagy and his absolute faith in himself and his system(not max protect, no running, moving the pocket/roll outs, no screens), it's also on the QB.
**Btw, Fields had 2.66 time to throw, that isn't NEAR enough time for a rookie to throw, but Dalton doesn't feel that pressure b/c he's getting it out in 2.5 or less. So when healthy YES he is the only actual option. That is NOT an inditement on Fields, that is 100% on Nagy and the OL. Fields is just a rookie and shouldn't be asked to deal w/Nagy's ego and his shit ass system, Fields will learn nothing from playing w/that OL for that HC other then he might not be good enough, or he has to throw the ball laughably quick and become a dink/dunk qb.
Anyone that thought Fields was a better option got a rude awakening yesterday. Nagy is 100% his "be you" mantra, and doesn't believe he should change, he expects the players to change and fit him.
