They both played like ASS today. Is that on them or on Nagy?
Take your pick but the whole OL was blown off the LOS almost every play and no QB can succeed with that.
Its a combination of 3.
A) Nagy - He needs to design plays around a young rookie qb and use his elite talent B) Fields - Not his fault but Dalton had a very quick release making our OL look better C) OL - This is do to lack of talent which is kinda a pace fault
Everyone acts like the Browns was the first tough defense we faced. We faced the RAMS week 1 and still scored 14 points with Dalton. Again its not on fields but he does get some blame. He's a rookie so I understand.
A) What might those plays be when the OL can't block my grandma? Please TELL US. Waiting.....
B) Dalton might have done marginally better and that's being generous. He could also have been sacked 12+ times. And no one got open at all--even for "quick release" passes. Watch ALL-22 if you don't believe me.
C) I agree but I disagree that it's "kinda" Pace's fault. It's 100% Pace's fault! Nagy is also Pace's fault. How this guy still has a GM job is beyond me. He's average at best and that won't get us to contender status.
Everyone wants to talk about how bad the O line is but remember by PFF coming into this game.
Jason Peters is PFF’s No. 9 offensive tackle (along with Ifedi at No. 11) after two games. This puts the Bears as the only team with both of its starting tackles amongst the highest-graded players
All I know is that in THIS game Peters & Ifedi were pathetic. Turnstiles. The interior OL were horrific too.

We need to get a better GM and a better HC & then rebuild the offense for Fields. The announcer (I think it was Greg Olson) said the Bears need to build a better offense for Fields (not his exact words, but words to that effect).
1)They haven't gotten separation for the last 2-3 years. The Bears were near dead last in WR separation last year. I was told that was b/c of the QB. Why is it different now?
That doesn't mean you cannot throw it to the WR's, hell ARob made his career in Chicago off of catching passes in tight coverage. Just bc there is no separation doesn't mean you cannot release the ball to one.
2)Are you gonna win like this? Honestly, you gonna win w/your qb taking 9 sacks, and 50ish yards?
3) He's my poster boy b/c that's the only thing that will work w/Nagy and this O. Your the one that cannot accept the reality that he is the kind of qb required for this team to compete. Ya he's hurt, but he's not on pup or ir, b/c he's not THAT hurt. He'll be back and you better be willing to accept it and the reason why.
1) Ric, even in the 2nd half when Fields threw quick underneath it was tightly COVERED. Pass after pass was batted away. Watch it again. This wasn't on the QB. NO ONE WAS OPEN EVEN IN THE SHORT GAME.
2) No, you can't win either way. Bears aren't talented enough to win your way and no team can win the way today's game went. This is a 6-7 win roster (thank you, Ryan Pace) coached by a HC in over his head (thank you again, Ryan Pace).
1) MP tightly covered has been an issue for 2 years, glad you are just catching up. It doesn't mean you cannot throw it or complete it. 1 passing yard is a problem, and it's not just the OL.
2) Ya well I'd rather lose where at least there was the option to possibly win instead of like this, where the team couldn't move the ball. You, the entire bears nation, even I bitched all last year about the O not being able to move the ball. THIS WAS WORSE, it was the 3rd worst Nagy O ever, and only bc they got 2 fg's, in actual yards it was by far his worst, it was historically bad, even for the Bears. The OL has been a problem w/the Bears in the past, incompetent coaches have been a problem in the past, they've all had to face great defenses in the past; and NONE had 1 net passing yard.
The Bears just got beat by a better football team. Looking at this schedule, there is more to come. Fields needs to know that he is not playing at Ohio State anymore. He has only a couple seconds to do something with the ball. Dalton was a good model, but he has not yet learned the lesson. Nagy play calling is horrible, which just makes it all worse. I expected Myles Garett to have a big day, but not 4 sacks. Bears should have double teamed him.
To cap off the day for me, the Packers hit 50 yd. FG after driving down the field in 30 seconds with no time outs. Seahawks defense failed, so Vikings won also. Even the damn Lions could have won, but Tucker kicked a 66 yd. FG! Everything turned out the wrong way. The only positive I saw on the Bears is that Quinn showed signs of life.
I would like to turn on GMF tomorrow morning and hear that Nagy was fired, but it ain't going to happen. Good night.

Those passes WERE THROWN, Ric. They WERE. And they were mostly batted away incomplete as no one got open even a little. Did you watch the 2nd half?
I don't know what you're arguing about--that the awful performance today was more than just the OL? Yeah, no shit. We all know that. Said that in my very first post in this thread. But the title and purpose of this thread is to assign a "deflated ball" and saying "it was everyone" is kind of a copout to me.
I picked the OL as most at fault in my book and I stand by that. It's very difficult to judge anything else when your OL is roadkill virtually every snap. They didn't look like that the first two games and please don't tell me that was all because Dalton is faster than greased lightening--he isn't.
Bottom line: The primary and most egregious reason the Bears lost today was that the OL couldn't block a high school cheerleader squad. The reasons why the offense has sucked balls for years are far more complex. All of that--coaches and players--falls 100% on Ryan Pace.
Look guys, its not that complicated. We can have dozens of excuses for Pace and Nagy but they are the top of organization, each of his part (cant fire owners unfortunately) and there are no results. Well, there are and they are abysmal. If any of us had this level of work results work (especially as a manager like those two) we would get fired. Just the way it is. They failed. Period.
+1 Ric. Nagy needs to tailor the offense to what the players can do and give up the play calling, or he has to be fired.

I'm not being flippant or sarcastic here, merely asking....
What can the Bears (on offense) DO? What is their core competency on offense?
I honestly have no idea. Their RB looks pretty good but we are well past the era in NFL Football where a team could run all over a defense week after week. Their WRs and TEs are merely average at best--none of them got open at all today, either short or deep. Their OL was a question mark starting the season and was simply atrocious vs the Browns.
I don't care who is under center--Dalton, Foles, or Fields--what they hell could they have done well enough to win today in the face of an OL that played like it didn't care?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Nagy. As I've said many times here, I wanted a housecleaning after last season starting with a new HC and new GM. Pace has failed to build a contention-caliber roster in 7 years. Nagy is in his 4th of not living up to his "offensive guru" billing. Both these clowns should have been shown the door last January but our cowardly ownership turtled up rather than taking bold action.
But ultimately I don't know what you can do when the 5 guys up front are getting blown off the LOS on virtually every play.
Whilst I agree the Bears were out matched, I don't accept that it was such a mismatch that we should expect one yard of net passing offense with Fields being sacked 9 times on 20 passing plays.
For me, Nagy too often doesn't put his players in a position to succeed. The best example I noticed was the Jason Peters / Miles Garret match up. Browns just paid Garret $100m for a reason, he is one of the best pass rushers in the league and you need to game plan for him. I happened to watch the Browns vs Texans game last week. Texans have a good left tackle in Laremy Tansil, but they still gave him lots of help with chips from the tight ends and running backs - the result being that Garret was fairly well contained. By comparison, Nagy didn't seem to help out Jason Peters much at all and instead seemed to rely on Kmet or Monty getting open quickly on a short route and then on Fields being able to find them. This might have been a reasonable approach with Dalton but clearly didn't work with Fields yesterday.
Wouldn't it have been better to use more 12 personnel with Kmet on one side of the line, James / Holtz on the other, and Fields lining up under center. This way you can neutralize their edge rushers and have enough of a run game that your play action is at least credible. I know play action can still work when your run game isn't dominant, but surely it needs to be better than we saw last night. It didn't look effective at all and I think this comes down to the pathetic run game, which you could blame on the line - but the scheme wasn't putting the line in a position to succeed. The same linemen were moving the Bengals D Line around last week.
More generally, perhaps use your scheme to buy your rookie a little time to make a read. Couldn't we try some some max protection or use Monty to block on some passing plays. I appreciate there are downsides but you aren't going to win any games if your QB doesn't have time to even make a read. Fields isn't going to last long in the NFL if he gets sacked this frequently.
Finally, could Nagy try holding some of his players accountable? I used to think Nagy was a good leader and had the respect of the team. But I see veterans like Allen Robinson and Jimmy Graham repeatedly fail on blocking assignments. Or Eddie Jackson missing tackles and I don't see any consequence. I appreciate its the NFL and you be like Matt Patricia, but I'd like to see some accountability. Frankly, Jimmy Graham is not a good enough player to make his current level of play acceptable. I'd cut him today and save some money whilst sending a message to the rest of the team.
